Handcrafted wreaths to your doorstep. Live, beautifully.
To me fresh greens and flowers are right up there with random acts of kindness when it comes to spreading happiness. Sunflowers always put a smile on my face. I feel a warm welcome when seeing a door wreath, even if no one is home.
Although I've always had a fascination with fresh foliage and blooms, it took a few decades to weave this passion into my professional life. As a boy growing up in a sleepy little Oklahoma town, I would ask my mother each season to buy a wreath for our front door. Sometimes she would and sometimes she would not. However, when she did buy one they most often were substandard artificial wreaths which lacked the true essence of any season.
Fast forward to college, I majored in business. Next stop: a year of graduate school in London. When I got back in the U.S. I worked in tech ops and marketing for a dozen years in San Francisco. In 2013, I decided my life needed more color—literally. To appease my right-brain cravings, I signed up for an introductory course in floral design. Thought I'd get a feel for the industry. We clicked, and I became a full-time floriculture student.
It didn't take long until I formed my own business creating fragrant and lush wreaths made of fresh and dry materials as well as premium quality synthetic florals. Now I send my mother a fresh wreath to welcome each new season.
Running a small business puts me in a unique position to help causes and people. I care about the environment both flora and fauna. I happily contribute a portion of sales to amazing projects that help animals. Read below to learn more about these truly incredible causes.
THE GENTLE BARN
Its goal is to create a space where children and rescued animals can support, love and nurture one another.
ANIMAL PLACE
Its mission is to extend compassion to all life with a special emphasis on farmed animals. This is executed by providing permanent sanctuary, education, legislation and appropriate placement of needy animals.
Moreover, I believe everyone deserves a second chance so that's why I employ women from the Tulsa based non-profit, Women in Recovery (WIR) at our second location there. It is a program that works with the criminal justice system to supervise, treat, educate, train and re-unite families. Benefits of the program breaks the cycle of intergenerational incarceration and helps its participants become productive, tax-paying citizens. I am proud to employ these extraordinary women who have overcome tremendous obstacles to become positive, contributing members of our society.
