Journey with me to my "Land of Crochet" where my crocheted 'critters' love to romp and play and I'll tell you about my Etsy Shop.

I've been crafting since childhood and have tried nearly every craft at one time or another. In my early 30's, I became quite interested in learning to Crochet. I read 'how-to' books and studied patterns, and tried & tried, but it just wouldn't make sense to my left-handed self. I had 3 different expert crocheters try to show me, but they weren't able to 'slow down' enough for me to really SEE what they were doing. They were also all right-handed, and for me to try to 'think in reverse' became really frustrating.

My neighbor and I were considering taking a crochet class when she came over one night, all excited. She was carrying a ball of yarn and a crochet hook and said, "Look, I just 'Got' It!". We plopped down in the middle of the living room rug so she could 'show off' what she'd learned. Being brand new to the art of crochet, she was working 'verrry slooow' and was also sitting opposite me - which to "left-handed Me" was like looking in a mirror, so I saw the 'reverse' of what she was doing. All of a sudden, it just "clicked"; everything I'd tried to learn about crochet now just made perfect sense.... and I haven't looked back since.

Perhaps because I had small children at the time, my interest in crochet crafting turned toward cute plush animals and toys. For the next several years, I crocheted dozens for my children, and as gifts for family and friends. Today I crochet my stuffed animals for children everywhere.

I'm enjoying my crochet more than ever, but hobbies have a way of evolving and you never stop learning. My latest interest in the fiber arts crafting field is for needlework on plastic canvas. It's a very satisfying craft, watching a picture take form as you create. I also found it's a terrific way to use up those left-over bits of yarn from my crochet projects. :)

I began my online selling journey in March 2008 after a friend told me about Etsy. I call my shop "Coastal Crochet Crafts". My original Etsy Shop name was Mountainside Crochet, chosen because I was living on the side of Stumphouse Mountain in Upstate South Carolina when I opened my shop. Now I have moved to the Georgia coastal region, so have renamed my shop to fit my location. :-)

Welcome to Coastal Crochet and Crafts. My creations are all handmade in crochet using washable acrylic yarn. Featured are teddy bears and other stuffed animals, amigurumi cuties, dolls, and fantasy creatures for children, or anyone (you're never too old to need a teddy bear to hug). At various times, I also have children's purses & totes and playtime pillows, plus attractive & useful crochet for the kitchen and home.

I also feature coasters, tissue box covers, refrigerator magnets, and other items created in plastic canvas and acrylic yarn, plus craft supplies.

I accept PayPal only for all International orders and PayPal or Direct Checkout for U.S. customers. Your order will be shipped upon receipt of payment.
Shipping
I ship within one business day after order and payment is received.

In the United States, packages under 13 oz. will be shipped by USPS First Class mail. Packages over 13 oz. will ship Priority Mail. Tracking number is included.

Overseas orders will be shipped by USPS First Class International Mail. I cannot pay for any custom or duty fees. Insurance is by request only. Please contact me for a quote.

I've used the USPS postage quote sheets to try and arrive at a fair and exact shipping cost based on weight. If an item ships for less than quoted, I will reimburse the difference.
