Mindfulness in the Making: Slowing Down and Getting Connected

CobbleWorks unofficially started when I was 5 and happily sewing, woodworking and gardening with my grandparents and crafting in my workroom at home. There was no scrap or bit of found treasure on a walk that couldn't be picked up and worked into something else with a little creativity, some experimentation and elbow grease. Life's a classroom.

As I grew up, I found I preferred using as much scrap and tossed aside material as possible. It made me feel connected to my childhood, but also reminded me that sometimes mistakes can be undone or reworked. Starting with scrap also reminds me that the spirit of renewal can be a daily experience: an old shirt can become lining to a sewing kit, an old sweater can be used in a needle pouch, old wrapping paper can be used to pack and ship products. Life has do-overs.

    Owner, Creator, Shipper

I was a maker and scrap lover as a kid. Playing outside, I found misfit bits and squirreled them home to craft new treasures. My pockets were full of acorns, rocks and junk, my head was full of ideas and I was all smiles. Little has changed since.
