Cobbled Together Home began as a blog my husband started when we moved back to the Midwest. Essentially we were cobbling together a living and a new life. This shop became a place for me to add to our cobbled together income doing things I love (creating) and encouraging in others a passion of mine (letter writing).

It all started when a special wildflower book was damaged in our flooded basement. I couldn't throw it away, yet it didn't have much promise after drying out. So with the challenge of how to salvage my special book, I decided to take it apart and see how it could be used. First, I did some paintings on a few pages and then got out the sewing machine to make envelopes. My husband (the encourager) mentioned them on his blog and so began the Wildflower Series.

For me, creativity is spurred with a challenge. Making something out of someone's nothing or something new out of something old. Upcycling is the word for this now days. With an ingenious mom and grandparents who lived through the depression, I was heavily influenced in the art of upcycling growing up.

Most of the materials I use are simply supplies that have come my way by way of a story. A story of being found or being saved. Letters tell stories, so I love to write letters and encourage letter writing in this world gone tech. I hope my stationary inspires a letter to begin with pen to paper, and end in someone's mailbox, bringing a smile and telling a story.

Cobbled Together Home will be a place where you can find upcycled, artisan letter writing material with it's story. From time to time you can expect to also find pieces of random art and creativity as "challenge" comes my way.
