About

What Can I Do With This Cool Old.....Thing....???

That's partly where it started. I've been a long time collector of antiques. Pre-1900's dolls, beaded purses, hatpins, hats, clothing, jewelry, perfume bottles, lace, trinket boxes, art, miniatures, cameos....An aunt propelled me into this when I was about 11, when she gave me my first beaded purses.

I have always been happiest when making things. I remember being very young and feeling hugely frustrated because I really couldn't find the means to express myself. My mom helped a great deal, she was crafty and we made candles, paint by number, those home decorating projects with little rocks and gold cord, tumbled rock jewelry, feather trees... I finally taught myself how to crochet lace because I wanted to know how and I also wanted to own some. It took an entire summer on the porch and the thread and hook often had to be retrieved from the closest rose bush where it landed in fits of utter frustration. I took classes in stained glass with Mom, she went commercial with it and it was the basis for me, when it came to color, design, metal and fire. I had another dear aunt who used to sew on a treadle machine, and there began my love for creating clothing. She painted and wrote and sang....I spent a lot of time with her as a child and because of this I sewed my way through high school so I could have "different and unique" things to wear. Also because we didn't have much money for fashion. I focused on the performing arts but have always been a many hatted dabbler. Sometimes I walk away from the jewelry bench to knit and read and cook, garden and paint and crochet.

Eventually I married a serious collector. The thing is you see, we have a wonderful antique store and I don't need or want to damage perfectly fine and historic pieces to make my art. I actually think it is wrong to do this. I use the orphans, the widows, the relics, and this world is truly full of broken but useful bits. I am one of those broken bits. Pondering my way through life, concerned about my children and the future they will be left with, concerned about the world, and finally, simply, making things from broken bits that find their way to me, because it makes me very happy. I work instinctively, am a very spiritual being, and possess psychic gifts that I awkwardly spend much time suppressing because of the distraction. I look for symbols, themes and faces in everything. I love a great story, and seek out those words, ideas, beginnings in every piece, every bit, and the simplest ones are often the most awe inspiring.

Welcome to CobwebPalace. I've been selling via shops, shows and my studio for many years, and though this account was opened a long time ago, I have really only been selling seriously here since 2014. Buying on Etsy has always been a favorite thing to do!!

My jewelry is composed primarily of antique and vintage components. I use some newer elements here and there, but mostly very old treasures. I personally test-drive each and every piece for comfort and function, and my attention to detail is obsessive. If for any reason you have issues, please contact me and I will make every effort to remedy the problem. I stand by my skills and with proper care, guarantee their longevity.

Please understand that vintage and antique elements are worn, used, loved, patinaed, imperfect, and those qualities are considered inherently vital to my design process. Special consideration should be given these pieces when wearing and storing.

To save time and make things just a bit more interesting here, I am adding vintage and antique jewelry and accessories, as well as destash items, and have closed my sadly neglected vintage shop, Madame Trinket.

Thank you for stopping by, feel free to say hello.

Payment is expected at the time of purchase, unless we have discussed a lay away plan prior to purchase. Please contact me prior to check out to arrange a payment schedule.

INTERNATIONAL: No matter what verbiage you may see in my shop, or elsewhere, I am not collecting nor am I responsible for taxes imposed on International customers. You are responsible for return shipping.

I have no access to your credit card or other payment information, your privacy is treated with utmost care and respect.
Shipping
My shipping profiles were all changed recently due to circumstances out of my control. If you have concerns about anything at all, don't hesitate to contact me. I ship everything with tracking and insurance, and refund overcharges cheerfully.

DOMESTIC SHIPPING
I ship with tracking and insurance usually no later than 2 days after purchase. Sometimes life gets in the way of my good intent, but I always try my very best to be prompt. If you are ever overcharged more than $1, I will gladly refund.
Your address must be current and correct, please check your accounts to be certain. I am not certain I did everything just right when switching to calculated shipping, so please be patient. If you are overcharged for shipping and insurance I will cheerfully refund. If I have not charged you enough, smile and carry on.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

"IMPORTANT": If you live outside the US please be aware that any VAT, taxes, customs fees or other charges you may incur when your package arrives in your country are your responsibility and are not included in the shipping fee. Please do not ask me to mark your item as a gift. I will not falsify customs forms. In the event you decide to return an item, you are responsible for costs of return shipping in the same manner in which I originally sent the item to you.

I do not ship anywhere without tracking. Who in their right mind is willing to assume the risk of the loss of their product, and payment as well? It is expensive, and I have tried to offer the least expensive methods of shipping safely.

For items sent internationally, please understand that I cannot be responsible for packages that are held in customs, so be sure the item you wish to buy is allowed to be sent to your country before making the purchase. I insure all items sent internationally so please contact me if your item doesn't arrive or if it arrives damaged. Shipping internationally is an expensive problem, working together on a mutually agreeable form of protection for both of us is open to discussion.

*NOTE: Items sent internationally may take up to 8 weeks to arrive and tracking isn't always precise once an item leaves the US. Please allow enough time for your item to arrive.

All items are shipped through USPS and packaged with the utmost care!
Refunds and Exchanges
I will accept returns for full refund within 7 days of receipt of the package, and will repair my handmade jewelry should issues arise not due to abuse. Most of my designs are one of a kind and cannot be returned for replacement, or replaced if not received. Once I have received my product back in hand, you can expect your refund. I do not offer partial refunds.

I want you to be totally satisfied with your purchase of an heirloom piece, so please contact me immediately if there are any issues or concerns.

Please don't request returns on lay-away items. Be certain before you purchase. Occasionally I will discount an item in a bulk purchase however, I don't discount for lay away.

Understand that vintage and antique elements are worn, used, loved, patinaed, imperfect, and those qualities are considered inherently vital to my design process. Special consideration should be given these pieces when wearing and storing.
Additional policies and FAQs
Lay away is possible, I prefer a 60 day maximum period with one third of the price as a down payment, scheduled installments, and do not refund if you change your mind about our agreement. Convo me prior to purchase and I will adjust your listing so you may select your installment amounts when the time arrives. If that doesn't work, select other and I will invoice you.

I am just me, working instinctively with materials I have, and no longer accept custom work, no exceptions. Adjusting a piece to fit you isn't a problem.

I sell from my home studio, brick and mortar, and at shows, so pieces shown in my Etsy shop are subject to sale elsewhere.
