Additional policies and FAQs
Measurements are taken while garments are lying flat and are then doubled when appropriate (for chest etc.). Please read the measurements carefully and compare with a similar piece of clothing for best fit. Feel free to make inquiries if you need help with sizing, or would like some additional information or photos.
Vintage and retro clothing often fits differently to modern clothing. Sizes are also quite different from country to country and have also changed over the years, so a size 12 made years ago or in a different country might be different to a size 12 today.
As I mention above its best to compare measurements to a piece of clothing you own however if you don't have a similar piece here are some tips for measuring yourself!
It is best and easiest to use a dressmaker’s tape measure, which you can get at your local fabric store for a small sum. A friend or maybe your mother might also have one you can borrow. You can also use a piece of string, by marking the length and then measuring the string with a ruler however this method is not as accurate as using a dressmaker’s tape measure.
Measure yourself over your underwear, not over your clothing.
BUST: measure over the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra.
UNDERBUST: measure around the fullest part of your ribcage, just under your bust.
WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your waist where it naturally curves in.
HIP: measure around the fullest part of your hips. This is usually about 8"-9" below your waist.
SHOULDER TO WAIST: Measure from the top of your shoulder, where a normal shoulder seam would lie, down the front, following the curve of your bust.
LENGTH: measure from the top of your shoulder (where a normal shoulder seam would lie), down the front, to the point you want the garment to end at the hem.
RISE: For pants and bikini bottoms. This is the measurement from the crotch seam to the top of the pants.
Remember when comparing your measurements with a piece of clothing to allow some room for movement -you don't want them to be exactly the same!
Bikinis are an exception to this -you want your measurements to be larger than the bikinis so they fit you snugly and don't come off while you're swimming!
TIP- Keep your measurements somewhere handy like next to your computer or in your wallet so you only have to do this once, then you can buy clothes online with confidence :-)
I hope this helps you, it’s important to me that you love your purchase.
