I can't praise this ring enough! It's everything I hoped for: recycled metals, ethical diamonds, modern/minimalist design, AND it's supporting a wonderful artist instead of a big business. I did so much research and shopping around before making the decision to get this ring for my fiancé as his wedding/engagement band, and now that I see it in person, I'm positive that I made the right choice. It really is perfect! Also, Anne was very helpful in responding to my (many and frequent) questions and concerns along the way. She went out of her way to help me get the sizing correct so that we can add a wedding band to this ring when we get married. All in all, this is perhaps the best purchase I've ever made. I'm so, so, thrilled to give it to my fiance! Thank you, Anne!

The rings are exactly as promised, and arrived much sooner than expected. Anne was so great about wanting to get the rings to me early so I had one less thing to worry about with wedding planning. 10/10 - would buy again!

About

Jewelry is Small, Precious, Very Personal Art - That You Can Wear

I love that jewelry is such a personal thing. It is so much more than an object.

There is almost always emotional attachment and I feel honored to make beautiful things and send them out into the world.

I love metals - the materials, the gemstones, the techniques, the complications, the never-ending learning that it all requires. I am constantly challenged and always learning. It's great.

For a long time I collected Art Jewelry - it was the "thing" I would save my money and treat myself to. Jewelry and Travel - I would work, save up, travel, begin again.

I can remember driving to work and not paying enough attention to the road as I was too busy admiring beautiful rings on my hand.

So, at one point I decided to "take the leap" and try something completely new and being a metalsmith was it.

I began with a three month intensive course in metals at Penland in North Carolina - an amazing place and it was a great experience.

Then I apprenticed for some wonderful goldsmiths, worked in the back room of a few galleries and shops and pieced it all together.

Lots of practice!

My Significant Other - Pat - is an amazing metalsmith with his own shop on etsy - patcahillmetalworks.etsy.com

I want your experience buying from me to be a good one and I want you to be happy with your purchase.

Custom ring orders can take up to four weeks to ship but I do my best to get things done sooner for you without rushing things.

I work with recycled and reclaimed metals. The white diamonds I work with are Harmony Recycled Diamonds whenever possible.
- they are the most eco-friendly natural diamond available. All other diamonds are conflict free. All reclaimed metals.

Rings with flush set diamonds cannot be easily re-sized - please be as sure as possible that you are ordering the correct size - I really suggest visiting jewelry stores and galleries and having a real person determine your size. Thanks.

The finish on all rings will change. It just will.

The matte finish on rings can be maintained by using a Scotchbrite pad in gentle, circular motions - use dry without soap. Do not polish.

Oxidized finishes will wear away. Rings can be re-blackened by using a Liver of Sulfur gel/compound or there is a way to do it with hard boiled eggs. Search engines can tell you a lot about this.

Rings will scuff up and ding with wear - it just happens.

To clean diamond rings - Soak in warm water and mild soap - use mild soap and a soft toothbrush if needed.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept Paypal, credit cards and all payment methods listed through etsy.

Please double check that your shipping address is correct.

Massachusetts residents will need to pay sales tax.

International buyers are responsible for paying any applicable customs fees, postal processing fees and VAT to your country.
Shipping
I ship worldwide using USPS First Class shipping within the United States and internationally using USPS Priority Mail.

Pieces that are ready to ship will be sent within three days of payment (excluding weekends and holidays and usually right away) unless otherwise noted in the listing or for custom work (rings of different sizes and dimensions).

All items shipped within the US are shipped using First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. If your order is $250. or more, and/or at my discretion, I will ship using Signature Confirmation.

If you are located "Everywhere Else" and I have guessed wrong about the cost of USPS Priority Mail International shipping I will refund the difference to you. I want to be fair about shipping costs and I also want to be sure to ship/package to be sure that you receive your jewelry quickly and safely.

I really wish it didn't cost so much to ship internationally - the packages are small but USPS regulations require that precious metals to most countries be shipped Priority Mail insured which puts the cost up.

All jewelry is packaged in a simple, recycled cardboard gift box.

If you are interested in faster shipping, please send me a conversation and when I know the destination and the item I can let you know what the charges would be.

If it should happen that a package is lost in the mail to you I will replace the item or if it is a one of a kind that I cannot replace I will issue a full refund to you. Things happen and it is not your fault or mine.

I insure all packages using a third party insurance company through etsy. If a package is lost I will ask that you help me by filling out a simple online document that the insurance company will email to you - once you have done that then then I can issue the refund to you. This almost never happens!

When I send the package to you - etsy will send an email with tracking information for the package.

Any questions, please let me know and thank you.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you receive an item that is not to your satisfaction for any reason, contact me upon receipt and I will work with you to correct the situation.

I will replace, repair or alter the item as needed. You may also choose to return the item. All exchanges and returns need to be shipped back to me insured within 14 days of receipt. When I receive the item I will refund you for the purchase price.

I want you to be happy with your purchase.

Custom rings made to your size are unique. Please be as sure as possible that you are ordering the correct size.
Additional policies and FAQs
All made-to-order and Custom pieces (for example rings) can take up to 4 weeks from date of your before shipping unless otherwise noted in listing.

I will try and get the order to you sooner than that but I need to leave myself time and not rush things. I am a small studio and do not have lots of gold and diamonds on hand :)

If there is a specific date you would like to have your piece by please let me know.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

I recommend that you go to a local jeweler and try on rings to determine your correct size. Try on rings that are the same or close to the dimensions of the one you are interested in for a correct fit. I just don't trust those plastic ring sizers or the ones you can print out.

Rings with flush set diamonds cannot be easily re-sized - please be as sure as possible that you are ordering the correct size - I really suggest visiting jewelry stores and galleries and having a real person determine your size. Thanks.

You can see my work in a beautiful book called Stonesetting for Contemporary Jewelry Makers by Melissa Hunt.

If you would like more information about the eco-friendly, reclaimed metals and recycled diamonds that I use please contact me and I will send you links.

I seek out and work with the best quality gemstones I can find. Natural and untreated stones have a beauty that needs no explanation.

No matter what you do, the oxidation will fade.

Rings will scuff up and ding with wear - it just happens. You will notice changes right away.

To clean diamond rings - Soak in warm water and mild soap - use mild soap and a soft toothbrush if needed.

Frequently asked questions

What does recycled metals and diamonds mean?

This is So Important to me!  I work with metals that have been reclaimed from old jewelry and other sources.

The metals I work with are Recycled Precious Metals.

The white diamonds I work with are ethically sourced, natural, untreated diamonds. Whenever possible I work with recycled diamonds.

Other diamonds that I work with are ethically sourced, non-conflict gemstones.

Black and most colored diamonds have been heat treated and/or irradiated to bring out the color.

White diamonds are natural, untreated gems.

The Oxidation – You Say that it will wear away – what does that mean?

The oxidation (black patina) is only a surface treatment to the metal using a sulfur compound.

It will not last – there is not a way to do this.  The length of time that it lasts depends on how you “use your hands” and whether you take your ring off and on to do things like dishes and gardening.

You have to be OK with the look of your ring changing as it will!

The black patina can be restored by your local jeweler, or you can do it yourself using Liver of Sulfur or hard boiled eggs.  Search engines can tell you a lot about how to do this.

You will notice changes to your ring the first time you wear it.  Rings scuff up and get dinged with wear.

What about the matte finish – will that change?

Yes, the matte finish will change as well.  It will want to become more shiny.

The matte finish on rings can be maintained by using a Scotchbrite pad in gentle, circular motions – use dry without soap. Do not polish.

The finish on all rings will change – rings take a lot of abuse and it will happen for sure.

Rings will scuff up and ding with wear – it just happens.

To clean diamond rings – Soak in warm water and mild soap – use mild soap and a soft toothbrush if needed.

What about figuring out my the correct ring size?

Everyone is so different!  I strongly suggest having a professional jeweler determine your ring size for the width of the band you want to purchase.

Visit one or more shops/galleries and try on rings and have more than one person determine your size

I do not trust methods where you measure using a string or a piece of paper – it doesn’t take into consideration the thickness of the metal, the width of the ring, your knuckles .. really, please visit some shops and galleries and be professionally sized.

What about re-sizing?

Rings with flush set stones are Not Easily Re-Sized.

That is why it is so important to get the right size to begin with. The rings cannot be stretched or compressed like a band without a stone can be.

If it turns out that you order an incorrect size, please contact me.

These things happen.  Sometimes, despite the best efforts, the sizing is wrong.

You can return the ring to me, get professionally sized and I will either adjust the ring or make you a new one.

When will I receive my ring?

I pretty much make everything to order.  I am a small shop and do not have a lot of precious metal and diamonds around!

I usually am able to make your ring and ship to you in about three weeks of when the order is placed.   Sometimes sooner, and sometimes it takes me four weeks.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All jewelry is packed in a simple, pretty, cardboard gift box with ribbon and card.

Do you engrave rings?

I'm sorry, I don't do any engraving or marking inside of rings.

My rings are suitable for engraving though and most local jewelers will do this for you.

I don't put any markings inside the ring to interfere with this.

Instructions for Maintaining the Oxidized Patina

Here's some info on maintaining the patina - I really wish it would last but it will begin to change right away.

A lot of people like to let the ring fade (looks great the whole time I think) and then when they feel like it, made it dark again.

Here's (way more info than you might want):

You can "DIY" to restore the finish - I use liver of sulfur gel and some people use eggs - search engines have good tutorials - here's some info:

This is what I use:
www.etsy.com/search?q=liver%20of%20sulfur%20gel

There are some great tutorials online - just search for oxidizing silver.

www.wikihow.com/Oxidize-Silver-with-Egg-Yolks

It is a sulfur thing so it is Stinky!

Customers in the EU - please know that you will be charged VAT.

A lot of people in the EU are surprised when they receive a parcel from outside the EU and the postal service/customs/your country charges you VAT and postal processing fees to receive the package.

Every country is different and has a different threshold for what can be imported - please have a look at the website for your country to see what the charges will be.

Also, people in Canada and some other countries will be charged postal processing fees - please check things out OK!

Thanks!
