Enjoy my Creative Expression through Fabrics
As a little girl I remember exploring in my Mom's sewing room, digging through piles of fabrics, yarns and supplies or searching her wide selection of acrylics, oils and pastels for just the right project to undertake. The most fun was changing a bunch of one dimensional items into something that was multidimensional whether it was with contrasting colors in an artwork or a new outfit that I had created.
Of course there was that time I ruined a whole six pack of Dial Soap while trying to carve real to life animal out of each one. Unfortunately my sculpting skill had yet to be and still haven't been discovered.
Having such a wide array of mediums available to me at such a young age couldn't help but to inspire me to be imaginitive and to create anything I set my mind to. That inginuity was the driving force behind the three restaurants that my husband and I opened and operated for a period of ten years in Atlanta and Augusta, GA.
In 2000 we decided to leave the food industry and started our residential construction company. Construction and woodworking had always been his passion and we continue to have a successful remodeling and design business. My sewing business Moore Designs originated in 2002. As an in house sewing workroom, I work with decorators and individual clients to create custom window treatment and bedding that reflect their individual styles.
Through Moore Designs, I enjoy working with some really amazing fabrics of various colors and textures. That has always been the coolest thing to me...to be able to create artwork with fabric. Whether it's earthtone lightweight linen panels in a beach house or banded roman shades in an office or the colorful ruffles in the bedding of a little girl's room, fabric becomes artwork. Even cuddley soft pj's, a gorgeous wedding gown of silk and lace or a vibrant quilt of numerous scraps, each holding it's own memory, stand out as detailed works of art.
That is why I love working with fabrics and why I decided to branch out with CocomoDesigns, my online expression of personal creativity. My shop is still in the stages of developement as I build up inventory and try to define myself in such a huge market. I do hope that visitors to CocomoDesigns will see the detail that I put into my work and the appreciation that I have for fabrics, patterns and textures.
In the future, I hope to introduce a wider variety of fabrics that will appeal to more customers. These fabrics will be in my pillow covers, quilts, and other accessories for the home. .
Life is busy and good. Juggling all these balls in the air while maintaining the proper perspective is sometimes hard...my love for the Lord, my family and friends and home. We adopted our oldest daughter from China in 2002 and our second in 2004. They continue to be a daily source of pride, surprise, joy and inspiration. My desire is to always see the good in people and situations and keep the proper perspective as I seek the direction the Lord leads. So far....so good!
Thanks for your time and I hope you enjoyed getting to know me. Come visit my shop often and tell me what you think.
Owner, Owner, Designer And Creator
I live in Evans, GA with my husband and two daughters. In 2000, I opened Moore Designs and continue to sew custom window treatments and bedding for decorators and clients. CocomoDesigns was launched in 2011 as the online sister to Moore Designs & my venue for personal creativity.
All of my items are handmade by me in my smoke free home and are a reflection of my love of fabrics. I enjoy combining various colors and textures to play off of each other while creating a unique finished product. Because each item is made one at a time, you will never find another exactly like it. I find inspiration mainly from the natural colors and textures found in my garden.
