My shop, ColorUrWorldGlass, opened in August of 2013 as a means of relaxation, creative outlet and more than anything to showcase my growing collection of inventory.
To me there is nothing like going down in my corner workshop and cutting glass and working my way through the various steps required to reach a beautiful product.
I have been involved in making my stained glass pieces either for personal use or sale since 1979. First selling at juried art shows.
I learned to make stained glass first through my local techinical college and one-year later working part time at a stained glass studio on the southside of Milwaukee. I think they got sick of my questions about products and technique so they offered me a job. Unfortunately, the studio has now been defunct for many years. So, all-in-all, I have been involved in making various sorts of stained glass for over 37 years. My creations have included candle holders, window panels both large and small, jewelry boxes, planters, mobiles, and most recently adding limited products in mosaic to my line.
The technique I like to use 98% of the time is the copper foil method, wrapping each piece of cut glass in foil so the solder will adhere, although from time to time I sometimes do leaded-glass pieces.
When I am in my corner studio I have the help of my companion cat, Simba, who supervises and ovesees my work. It's really the lamp lighting that he is after the most because my table lamps throw a lot of heat , but I prefer to think he is genuinely interested in my work.
In closing I would like to say that anything seen in my shop can be custom made or remade to order if it isn't currenly listed for sale.
