About

Common Goat Sense LLC

Our Story:

Hi, my name is Brittany and I am proud to say that I'm a West Virginia girl living in an Idaho world!! Back in April of 2013, I started my journey of making soap. We were already using goat milk soap at the time from another company but we needed a soap that met everything our skin needed. We had a lot of extra goat milk when our second youngest was nursing. So with a little inspiration from my Mamaw, I had decided to make my own goat milk soap. I set out in creating my recipe, researching about different oils and decided on a Castile soap. With goat milk being a natural moisturizer and naturally exfoliating the skin, I was excited to be using it in my soap. After a few trial and error batches I finally came up with "The One"! Our soap has helped my oldest baby's eczema; my dry, bumpy arms and my husbands dry, cracked hands. We told all our family and friends about our soap. And that is how Common Goat Sense was born. Now with the help of my amazing husband and the help of our little ones, Common Goat Sense is a Small Family Business with old family memories that is making All Natural Products out of love.

Our Inspiration:

Having been raised in West Virginia as a kid, I was lucky enough to live just down the road from my Mamaw. My Mamaw was a strong-willed, self-reliant woman who was set in her ways and i love her with all my heart. My great-grandpa passed away many years before i was born leaving Mamaw on her own with her kids living near by. She grew her own food and then canned it so she would have food for the winter. She made beautiful crocheted and quilted blankets for herself as well as for family and friends. Growing up, you would always find me and my sisters at Mamaw's house. We would play outside when the weather was nice, watch Mamaw cook in the kitchen and listen to stories about grandpa and what life was like when she was little all while she was crocheting. The stories she told about her growing up is what I remember the most. She said that she would watch her mama cook on the wood stove, help with laundry using a old washer and ringer then hang the clothes outside on the line to dry and help her mama in making good old fashion lye soap. Mamaw sharing those memories with me when i was a kid really was the most influential part of my life. Listening to her talk about the old ways and the natural way of doing things made me who i am today.

We hope you enjoy the story and inspiration behind our shop and love using our products. Hope ya'll have a wonderful day.
