Pottery Mugs, Soup Mugs, Wine Cups, Bowls
ConchoCreekPottery's Shop Policies
Our pottery shop is a full-time working studio with Rich Hepp at the wheel--potter's wheel, that is. His pottery is a one-man operation. Rich does everything from stacking tons of clay boxes to unloading the finished pots from the kiln--and everything in between. Every piece of pottery we offer has been personally handled by Rich an average of a dozen times.
Steps to building a mug, for example, include wedging the clay, throwing the mug body, drying it to leather-hard, trimming, making and applying a handle, drying again, bisque firing, glazing, firing again, and sanding. Rich uses a super-fine trimming process to make a smooth "footed" bottom that will not scratch wood surfaces. He uses a "repacking" technique on rims to make them chip-resistant. The kiln is fired to 2400 degrees yielding a durable, long-lasting, and beautiful product which will give many years of enjoyable use.
You can rest assured that our pottery is 100% handmade in small batches in our Concho, AZ studio. Rich uses only the finest materials: Laguna clays as well as carefully sourced minerals to insure there is never any lead or other toxicities in our glazes. Rich stands by every piece of pottery you purchase. It may surprise you to know that our customers have told us they have 30-year-old mugs and bowls that look brand new! If there are ever any problems resulting from a faulty production process, Rich will ship out a replacement at no charge.
While Rich is the sole potter of Concho Creek Pottery, PotteryGal does what she can to keep the shop running smoothly. She tracks inventory and correspondence, and also does much of the shipping. If you have a question or problem, email PotteryGal at PotteryGal [!at] ConchoCreekPottery.com

"AT COST" SHIPPING POLICY
We ship all items "at cost." This means we charge exactly what it costs to ship by USPS plus materials. Whenever possible, we use USPS boxes. However, most of our pottery can be packaged more securely in our own cube boxes. We realize the cost of shipping has increased and we make every effort to keep the cost as low as possible by packaging in the smallest boxes possible to insure safe shipping.
HOW WE PACK
We use new materials for shipping. All items are bubble-wrapped and packed into a box large enough to absorb shock. We incorporate as much kraft brown paper as possible to minimize use of plastics. Larger orders are usually double boxed with styrine peanuts in between the boxes for added protection. On international orders, we use more bubble wrap and occasionally substitute a clay box to get the weight down and keep shipping costs lower.
In the rare event that an item is broken during shipment, it will be replaced promptly at no charge within 10 days original shipping. We may ask for a photo of the broken item.
Refunds and Exchanges
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Please contact us right away if you feel there is a problem. We will do our best to resolve the issue.
Only items that have not been used are eligible for refund or exchange. In most cases returns must be made within 10 days of original shipping date and in some instances may be subject to a 10% restocking fee. Shipping costs are non-refundable and return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Exchanged items are not eligible for free shipping.
Additional Policies and FAQs
Keep in mind that each piece we ship bears the distinctive markings of handmade pottery. While we specialize in large matching sets, each piece will have it's own unique markings. We hope you will enjoy the one-of-a-kind aspect of your purchase purchase.
We welcome inquiries about our products and the methods we use to produce them. Keep in mind that the shop is a "one-man" operation. We respond promptly to email--usually within a couple hours.
Being a one-man studio, Rich handles every piece of pottery at least a dozen times. There is generally about a 6-week process to make a single piece of pottery. For this reason, there is no way to get "overnight" pottery and there is a limited amount that Rich can produce in a year's time. By Thanksgiving time, the last pottery of the year has all been made. Any new pots that Rich throws after Thanksgiving won't be ready until next year. For best selection, shop early for your holiday purchases.
Please browse our listings and feel free to email us if you are looking for an item in a size, color, or quantity not listed here--if we have it in stock we will let you know right away and arrange a "reserve" if needed. Although every piece has unique markings that distinguish handmade pottery, we do our best to ship well-matched items. We will email photos of "reserve" items before we accept payment and ship.
