Announcement   Re-purposing vintage and everyday fabrics into unique products. One of a kind aprons that were once skirts, dresses and tablecloths. New fabrics and trims are added to upscale each into a beautiful usable design. Some new fabrics may be used with a vintage or unique pattern from the 1950's - 60's or earlier. Some patterns are even made from aprons that have been lovingly handed down from days gone by.

One of a kind original decor. Our house was built during the 1860's, in Logan County , Ohio. The farm was part of the Military land contracts that brought many to this area of Ohio. My husband's family bought the farm in 1921. We replaced the roof last year, finding under the old metal roof these beautiful wooden shingles, Hand-hewn all those years ago.

So we took on the task of removing nearly 150 years of dirt from them. This process takes 3 washings. The wood is beautiful but a bit fragile. The wood is then sealed on the front side, leaving the back side original. Coated then with modge podge to make a bit smoother surface for painting or adding a decoupage item. These were hand made then, and free hand painted now. It is not an exact science and each painting or decoupage differs. They have a rustic primitive look. The date 1869 is then wood burned on the shingle. Sometimes on the front, sometimes on the back. Each piece is original, no two will be exactly the same. It is then sealed yet again.

4 Paws for Ability will receive a portion of each sale. I work with both the actual non-profit and the kids fund raising to get their service dog. (Who can resist a cute kid selling a t-shirt to get a dog and some 4 Paws magic) I am also a guardian home for 4 Paws. So yes I have a dog here by my feet as I type this.

About

Connie Mae Designs Once & Again Items

Connie Mae Designs started as a way to preserve old fabrics, such as tablecloths, by making them useful again. But I found there are many fabrics that can be re-purposed into something useful. Aprons are something that can be useful, beautiful and handed down from generation to generation.

My Mother, Eunice, was a seamstress and I learned to sew quite young. By the time I was in middle school I was sewing beside her. This shoppe is in her honor as she always thought I could be a designer.

There are some new fabrics used. Sometimes the colors are just too beautiful to pass up. I also love vintage patterns and they take a bit more fabric. Retro type fabrics are often required.

I do like to make an ample apron ( no skimpy thing) so that it is really usable.

Please enjoy my selection of aprons. They are one of a kind treasures given new life and purpose. Please check back often as this is a new business and I will be adding new items as time goes by. While I have little ratings here on Etsy on this new venture I have had an Ebay account for years with a feedback rating user name- "conniemae" 539 stars 100%.
Thank you!

I'm an Ohio farm wife who loves to sew. After working for 37 years out side the home I decided to get back to my sewing roots. God gave me this gift and my Mother taught me how to use it. So I hope you LOVE Connie Mae Designs as much as I do.

Greetings from Connie Mae Designs. God gives us some crazy gifts-- it's up to us to use them. So right now I'm being led to sew again like Mom taught me. Each piece of fabric tells it's own story. Items are hand crafted to be a one of a kind. I try to describe each item as correctly as possible. I hope you love using them as much as I loved designing them.
