Loving the water will lead to protecting the water!
Just trying to save the world!
Thanks for visiting my Etsy page. I began this page as I was recuperating from surgery and decided to move from simply selling at some local fairs to going online. I am an environmental educator in my day life and my specialty area is water education. I wrote a novel, Sweet Water Hunt, and started selling it at fairs. To pay the vendor fees, I began making sweet nature jewelry.
I work with school groups and camps to teach about nature and stewardship. Since a year ago, I've been collecting kids' straws and melting them into beads to keep them from the waste stream where we know they cause harm to sea life. So now the jewelry line has grown to my "save the turtles" jewelry!
I love repurposing the straws and designing and making the jewelry. Not only am I keeping waste from entering our oceans (in my mind each straw could make a difference), but turning that waste into attractive jewelry with a message. Wear it; don't toss it!
Since I also run canoe camps in the summer to empower young girls, 50% of profits goes toward supporting those camps. Check out my website www.sweetwatered.com to learn more about saving the world: one kid, one lesson, one canoe trip or one bracelet at a time!
