the slow pattern of the snail

Caracol means snail in Spanish: a cool snail going its way with patience and determination, enjoying the slow rhythm of the tides meanwhile ideas grow and work goes further.
In a world which loves more and more the speed and the emptiness, CoolCaracol goes slow but for real and delivers its eco friendly, high quality products made to last a lifetime or two.

Even thought CoolCaracol is quiet a very new shop, the idea has been there, petted through different moments of my life.
Mostly, it was a "what if?" idea than a concrete plan - or any kind of plan, actually.

To come to live to Sweden changed that. Yes, long winter nights during about six months per year helped a lot. And my complete lack of Swedish, of course.
// What if I start to knit for real, what if I just pick this way among other ways to express and give, to create endurable beauty?
Something really unique, something I would buy for myself or for my kids without a doubt.
I borrowed books from the library and read all I could about slow design, eco fashion, textil experiments, the history of the wool... I tried this and that, I failed and started again. I called my grandmother long distance, I practiced skills I haven't used for centuries...The idea wasn't to hurry but to take the time to find an authentic expression which could synthesize the many elements and thoughts which surround my world...
I found out already that the ride is what it matters and that it'll take a lifetime to reach a point of complete and real satisfaction.
Because the craft of weaving is to beautify the daily life and make something extraordinary from the ordinary, durable through time and lasting in the memory. It is what I learned from my lovely grandmothers, Rosa and Lolo.
CoolCaracol was proudly born into that spirit.

Every time I take the needles, I feel my grandmothers with me and with them, my legacy, my roots, part of my identity reaching me in the simple gesture of hold the hook and make the wool thread start to dance.
