Hi! My name is Kara. I picked up a pretty rock in the yard a little while after I learned to walk, and now I have a whole room full.

I live in one of the prettiest places in the world: the Southern Appalachian Mountains in North Georgia. This is a great place for rocks. Every time I dig out a new garden bed, I find chunks of snow quartz as big as your head.

Rocks make me happy, so most of my jewelry is rocks (oysters also make me happy, so some of it is pearls). I am very particular about the rocks that I use, and I will happily talk your ear off about each one of them.

I try very hard to ensure that my gemstones come from happy, fair-trade sorts of homes, and that my cultured pearls come from eco-friendly pearl farms.

My wires and clasps and things are sterling and fine silver, gold vermeil, or 14/20 gold filled. You will never find base metal in my shop. I do love working with copper, but my copper pieces are all at my other place: http://somemorerocks.etsy.com

I am happy to use pure gold wires and things at your request.

A lot of my work is done with extremely fine wire, and looks very delicate and fragile. That is a trick.

I do extensive field testing, in the form of handing jewelry to my friends and relatives and asking them to wear it a lot. I'm happy to report that even my very tiniest handmade gemstone chain should hold up at least as well as a manufactured one. So go ahead. Wear it every day.

I’m a big fat organic gardening earth hippy type, and all my stuff comes from a smoke free home.

Accepted payment methods

Paypal

Returns & exchanges

See item details for return and exchange eligibility.

Payment

I'll be happy to take paypal (or your credit card through paypal), or your personal check.

I know that the checkout system can be kind of confusing. If you're having trouble with the process, just let me know, and I'll try to help.

If I notice you may be having trouble with payment, I will send you a convo or an email. If I haven't heard from you within a couple of days after that, then I'll have to cancel the transaction - but we can always try again later.

If you accidentally buy something, don't worry about it - let me know, and I can cancel things from here just by bugging etsy admin. They're very nice about these things.

Shipping

I ship everything in a cotton lined jewelry box tied up with a ribbon. I’m paranoid about my rocks getting scratched, so there’s generally some bubble wrap involved, too.

US shipments go out with delivery confirmation and insurance.

If $3.95 for shipping turns out to be a gross overcharge, I'll refund you the difference. If it turns out to be a gross undercharge, then I've just learned a valuable lesson.

International Packages go out via USPS First Class Mail, except the ones to New Zealand, which go out USPS Priority Mail, and unfortuanltely cost the world.

International packages typically take 2 to 6 weeks to arrive, and they can be a bit tricky to track. If you need an item more quickly, please do let me know and I'll be happy to arrange for expedited shipping.

If you want something sent expedited, I'm sure we can work it out.

Additional policies and FAQs

I love custom orders, and I will also happily customize any piece in the shop to suit you.

Want to place a wholesale order? Just contact me, and we'll work something out.

Everything comes from a smoke free (unless there's been a cooking disaster), pet-ful work space.

If you have any questions about caring for your jewelry, please contact me at any time. I will be delighted to help.

I’m proud as a peacock to be a member of HOST, the Helping Others Street Team. Check out our shiny new shop at host.etsy.com. All HOST shop proceeds go to helping fellow etsians in need. Feel free to convo me for more information.

Every stone that I work with has its own distinct character, so be assured that the gemstone you see in the picture is the one that you will be getting. Every pearl has its own character too, especially the baroques that I love best of all. However, my camera is not clever enough to show you the difference, so most of my pearls are stock photos. As soon as I work out how to show you the details, you can be sure that i will.

Thanks for looking!
