So nicely made. She is absolutely precious! I wanted something for Spring and she will be out through summer. One is never to old for dolls. Thank you for packaging well and promptly shipped.

About

Primitive Handmade Dolls and Decor (Pics show best on a device other than mobile)

I found my adult niche in a creative career because I was a creative child. My parents were collectors of antiques, and I share their love for old and worn.

My Mom was an artist, and baked beautiful wedding cakes. She also made tiny Barbie clothes, and sewed dresses for me.
My parents were always very supportive of my creativity. So much so that my sister and I would always get some sort of art item at Christmas.

I live at the foothills of the Appalachian range, and that heritage has fostered my design process when I make my primitive, OOAK dolls. Some are extremely prim, and some are whimsical, others have vintage appeal. I think they all work with seasoned furnishings, which is the way I like to decorate. I have always had a primitive style, and have loved dolls since I can remember.

Most of the designs are my own, and although it is a time consuming process to design and construct a new item; rather than use purchased patterns, I like to be able to offer OOAK rag dolls, bears and bunnies to my customers. Sometimes I am not sure exactly how the creation will turn out, and I find that satisfying!

I work with fabrics in country patterns, and historical colors in muted tones for authentic appeal.

I played with a lot of hand me down dolls as a kid, and I love to create memorable items like I would have played with as a child. My artist stuffed animal creations are never perfect, but primitive and timeworn, as though they have been well loved. Some actually fool the eye into thinking they are antique! Raggedy dolls never go out of style, and I love their sweet faces.

Staining the fabric, and adding faux repair stitches give the primitive toy dolls some character, like the items have seen the passage of some time. I want my dolls and decor to appear almost antique, but be something functional in your home, without worry of keeping out on display.

I craft daily with my schnauzer by my side in my smoke free home. Most days I am at my sewing machine, or adding details by hand with needle and thread or a paint brush. I even craft while watching my favorite cooking shows.

I am so thankful that clients spend their hard earned money on my original primitive stuffed toy designs for their homes, and as gifts. I put my heart and soul into them, and sometimes I find it hard to part with something I have spent a lot of time with.

I am blessed to be able to have a job that I love. My heirloom dolls are crafted to last, and very well constructed for years of decorating your cozy home. All items are signed and dated to become family treasures. They will pair well in primitive home decor, and with your prized antique pieces.

Let me create a cozy, warm look in your home with one of my designs.

If you like an item that is already sold, let me know. I will create a one of a kind similar to it for you. Custom orders are accepted, please message me.

Thanks for stopping by.

Come back often, as I add items weekly.

    Owner, Designer, Creator

I make my artist teddy plush, and primitive dolls in my smoke free home. Most are from my original designs. Unique primitive folk art dolls , and sewn home decor pieces in vintage style to blend with your decor.

  • Randy McKinzie

    Woodworker

The love of my life. I am adding him to the mix because I could not do this without his support, love, and help in cutting the wooden bases for my primitive plush and rag dolls. He also works a full time job in addition to helping me in my shop.

  • Ian McKinzie

    Shipper

Our son. He is my go to for shipping, craft shopping, and helping with any finish work. I rely on him when I am working on orders, and need someone to make a post office run, or stop by a local store for supplies. It is a family business, for sure.

  • Pepper

    Moral Support Exec.

My constant companion. He either gives me the ears up for a like of my current project, or a snort for dislike of the piece. He liked my latest doll, as you can tell. Moral support is his job, and he does it quite well.
