Item was just as described. Wanted this to make a necklace and Hatice was so helpful. She asked for samples so she could help me gauge if one spool was enough. Turns out I did need 2. Thank you so much for your assistance and fast delivery! Will definitely get more if I plan to make another necklace.

Turkish Handicraft at its BEST

Oya is everything to me. Oya is a type of lace be it "Igne Oyasi" or needle lace, "Tig Oyasi" or crochet lace, "Mekik Oyasi" or tatted lace, "Boncuk Oyasi" or beaded lace, "Firkete Oyasi" or hairpin lace. These edgings are usually made around the edge of a scarf, however Igne oyasi is also used to make doilies, and other edgings.

In the olden days young girls and brides etc would make their wedding trousseau which included unbelievable amounts of oya, table cloths, doilies, and everything else that she will need to decorate herself or her home. The Oya flowers that this girl gave as presents, or wore on her head were secret messages to all the other women in the village. In Konya where we're from, they make a special Oya called "Cayir Cimen" which is meadow grass oya. This oya was made by the bride for the mother in law to signify that she hopes their relationship will be great, and to show her how diligent and careful she is with her stitches- because of course a girl who pays careful attention to her work, will pay careful attention to her husband. If the mother in law doesnt like her work, she cuts it finely in soup to signify that she needs to be more careful when she makes it the next time.

And this is why I fell in love with oya, and Turkish handicrafts and I hope we can share the things we make with love and care, with you.

As is the case with all handmade items irregularities are unavoidable. I believe this enhances the piece as this means that while two pieces maybe similar they will never be identical.
