Adding a collection of felt monogram embroidery letters to Couturesse. Stitching over these letters gives those wonderful precise, raised monograms seen on fine French linens slightly_smiling_face

I'll be adding lots of French sewing patterns from the 1940s up to the 1980s to Couturese over the next few weeks
Spring has sprung and I'm planning a curtain revamp. Which vintage fabric to use? So many choices relaxed

About

I was inspired by the fabrics and trims I found in an abandoned French textile mill and opened Couturesse

Welcome to Couturesse, your go to destination for vintage French fabrics, lace, trims, buttons, patterns, lace making equipment and many other sewing supplies and tools.

My name is Nickie. I was born and raised in England but am now fortunate to live in the beautiful rural department of Ariège in South West France with my husband, Jeff.

Couturesse has been closed for 3 years but I was inspired to reopen after a rather eccentric friend bought an old textile mill which had been abandoned in the 1970s (like you do!). This time capsule still contained many bolts of fabric, cards of unused braid, threads and samples and I simply could not pass up the opportunity to acquire so many wonderful unused vintage supplies. I will be sharing my finds along with many other French finds in my shop over the next few months.

Check my shop often because I'm always finding new treasures for the sewing enthusiast.

Shipping
Postage is from France

Small, flat, light items are still sent using the la poste "lettre prioritaire" letter service which has no tracking or insurance. These services can be added for an additional charge.

Small "paquets" are sent using the la poste Paquet Prio International service which has no tracking or insurance. There is a weight limit of 2kg on this service and certain large items cannot be shipped this way. Extra services such as tracking, signature on delivery or insurance are available at an extra charge, please add the upgrade option you want or contact me for a price.

All parcels with a value over $170 or weighing over 2kg will be sent via the Colissimo service This service requires a signature on delivery, includes insurance and is trackable. I will also require a contact phone number for the shipping company.

Please be aware that I ship from France and delivery times outside France and the EU can be longer. Please take this into account when placing your order. I'm afraid I cannot control delivery times and am not responsible for postal delays. If you need your item before a certain date please contact me prior to purchase for a price on expedited shipping.

I will happily ship worldwide and will combine shipping on multiple items. I endeavor to send all items within 3 days of receiving payment however I am not able to ship over weekends.

Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred.

In cases of non delivery the item will be returned to me. I will refund the purchase price of the item upon receipt of the item. For customers in the EU the return postage is free. For customers outside the EU the return postage is chargeable and I will deduct this cost from the item cost and refund the balance.

I wrap the items very carefully however occasionally an item is damaged while in transit. When you receive your parcel, if you see that it is opened, damaged, broken, always open it in front of the postman and ask him to sign a statement if the content is damaged. With this paper , the French poste will reimburse the content at the declared value for all the parcels with insurance. Without that, the insurance will NOT be functional. I cannot be held responsible for breakages during shipping if insurance was not purchased.

Postal costs and delivery delays are beyond my control.

If you require an invoice you can print this direct from your purchase history in Etsy. Should you require an invoice sending with your order with my store details and registration number please contact me and I will gladly supply this with your order
Refunds and Exchanges
It is important to me that you are happy with your purchase, so if there is any sort of problem and you would like to return it, we can work it out together until you are happy.

Please notify me by email or Etsy convo within 3 days of receipt regarding your concern.

If possible, re-use the packaging the item was sent in if returning it. The shipping with tracking is paid for by the buyer.

Your money will be refunded as soon as I receive the item. The item must not be damaged or altered. The item must be returned within 14 days of delivery. I cannot accept returns after 30 days.

Please note that sewing patterns, layaway purchases and sale items are non returnable.
Additional policies and FAQs
All the items I sell are either vintage or antique so may have some flaws, dents, scratches etc. Please do not buy if you are expecting an item in 'new' condition unless specified in the listing.

Vintage fabrics have been previously used, where possible I state what they were used as e.g. curtains, tablecloths, kitchen textiles etc. These fabrics may have minor defects e.g. loose threads along hems, small marks, a musty smell etc. Generally they will require laundering before use.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer Layaway?

I am open to a layaway plan for more expensive items with a combined value of over $100 (including shipping). This way you can split your payments over a period of time between 1 and 3 months. We will agree the payments at the beginning and then your first payment reserves your item.

Please note that after you begin your payments I am unable to refund you or cancel the transaction as the item is reserved for you and unavailable for sale to anyone else. The item will stay on reserve until you finish your final payment.

Can I get faster shipping?

The quickest and most reliable international shipping I offer is using the Colissimo service. Shipping times with Colissimo to non EU countries are 5 - 8 working days from dispatch to delivery. If you want to add this service to your order please purchase the Colissimo upgrade.

If you want a quotation for a quicker service please contact me before your purchase as these services are very expensive.

Can you combine shipping?

I will combine shipping on multiple purchases wherever possible.

I can combine shipping with items in my French vintage shop, Histoires.
https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/Histoires

Please contact me if you want to purchase from both shops and I will set up a custom listing.

If you want an exact price for shipping on your order please contact me before you buy so that I can set up a custom listing for all the items you want with the correct shipping charge.

Please note that it is not always possible to combine shipping on large / heavy / fragile items as the economical La Poste service has an upper limit of 2kg. It may actually be cheaper to send 2 or more separate parcels if the items are very heavy.

Can I get a swatch sample before I buy?

No problem, I'd be more than happy to send you a swatch of all the fabric or braids / laces that you’re interested in seeing. If you want a single sample please purchase the special listings for fabric or braid sample and don't forget to tell me which sample you want.

Alternatively please contact me if you would like to see a few different items and I'll set up a special listing for you with the correct shipping.

Can I pay in euros?

I can accept payment by cheque or bank transfer in euros. Please contact me prior to purchase for details.

How do I leave a review?

Your opinion on my shop is important to me.
Details on how to leave a review are here - http://www.etsy.com/help/article/102

How do you grade sewing patterns?

I check all sewing patterns except those that are sealed or are still in sealed plastic bags.

Some patterns may have been previously used so please check the description carefully.

I indicate in the listing if the pattern is unused, uncut, still in factory folds, used but complete etc. Occasionally I sell incomplete patterns if the pieces for one garment or outfit are all there. Please ensure you read the entire description to ascertain the condition of the pattern.

Please read the descriptions carefully as I cannot accept returns of sewing patterns.
