About

My favorite hobby; crocheting doilies and throw blankets.

I hope my crochet work brings a blessing! Crochet work can help make a house a home. A special blessing for me and the recipient is when a blanket is bought for someone who is sick or needs some extra comfort.

I started crocheting at the start of my marriage 24 years ago. I always had a love and fascination for making things. A co-worker started crocheting at work, she was making doilies. She was very fast and was making such lovely items I wanted to learn to do it too. I got a how to book, yarn and hook and I was soon crocheting! I soon learned to make things in thread. I did a lot of different projects, but soon found I loved making doilies! I like the different designs that can be made and I like working with thread. I also like making throw blankets with yarn. Two types of projects that are favorites are doilies made with thin, fine thread that have a real delicate look and feel and wool blankets with it being a natural material that holds it's shape and drapes nicely.

Crocheting and knitting are very meditative and therapeutic with its repetitive movements. It is very relaxing.

Additional policies and FAQs
SIZE- Made to order items can vary in size by up to 4 inches with afghans.

Heirloom quality thread used for doilies: Here is what an heirloom crochet website had to say: Opera Crochet Thread is an upscale thread with a luxurious feel and shine. It has more twists per inch and is more lustrous than most threads rendering it perfect for heirloom bedspreads, tablecloths, home decor, fashion apparel and accessories. 100% mercerized cotton. Machine wash and dry. 50 gram ball.

DMC Cebelia is also an heirloom quality thread that is a long-fiber, (100%) cotton crochet yarn which has been mercerized twice, a process that gives it both strength and shine. Double mercerized for a smooth and silky finish. It has a good twist.

Premium thread isn't necessary for doilies, but it has benefits. They will last many years without it being premium thread. It is nice to have the better thread if you wash the doily a lot or it sees a lot of use and friction applied to it. The premium thread will not fuzz as much over the years and won't "wear away" as easily either. Premium is stronger and more durable. Crochet work, in general, is very durable as the stitches are all joined together.

DOILY DECORATING IDEAS: frame it, attach to a throw pillow, hang over the edge of a shelf, create a valance using curtain rod clips, wrap a present in one, or use as an applique on lamp shades, curtains, shower curtains, note cards, scrap books, etc.
