I can not wait to make this beanie. The pattern is clear and easy to understand and printed on one page perfectly, so you don't have to keep multiple pages together. I love that!!!

About

This is my life, this is my story...

Hi everyone:) My name is Christina, I live in Connecticut and I have a strong addiction to yarn. >:)

I joined the world of crochet when I was just 9 years old. I had found a small kit in a thrift shop at the local church and asked my mom "what's crochet?" She said she knew the basics and would teach me when we got home. From there she taught me how to make a chain and single crochet, then later on hdc, and dc. I always, always tried to make a scarf or a granny square blanket, but usually gave up after about three days. Being a young kid, I wasn't patient enough to finish an entire project, no matter how big or small... my hobby soon turned into something that I just knew how to do and would pick up every now and then.

In 2010, I decided to pick it up again. I had a bunch of white and purple yarn, so I figured I would sit down and actually make my first blanket. It took me a few minutes to remember how to start a granny square, but once I mastered it, the blanket was done in a short 5 days. Intrigued, I taught myself how to make a hat, learned different stitches and combinations and within a few short months I had realized I had begun to make a small inventory. Pictures of my creations floated around facebook, gathering orders left and right as the Christmas season of 2011 came around. I realized how easily it would be to turn my passion into something so much more.

By January 2012, I decided I needed to take it to the next level. I needed a legit name to identify my work as. I had thought for only a split second and realized I would call myself Crabapple Crochet, named after my best friend who passed away in 2007. (She had a thing for crabapples). Once I had my name set in stone, I opened my Etsy shop shortly after. It took about a month to make my first sale... but I swear I never smiled wider than when I heard the iPhone app say "Cha-Ching."

It's been a bumpy road, with the ups and downs of learning how to manage my own business, but I really can't say a single bad thing about it. It has shaped me into the person I am today. I've learned so much about myself, as well as others, it is ridiculous. I feel like I'm on top of the world, like I can do anything.... because after all, it's true. You really can do anything you set your heart to. All you have to do is go out and do it. :)
