My hermit crab journey and opening this shop!
My journey into the hermit crab world began during 2020. My family researched and went back and forth over how many crabs, how big of a tank, where to buy and so much more. After starting with two purchased crabs and a 10 gallon tank we quickly realized we needed a lot more room. We set up a 36 gallon tank and thought we were done! However not much later we saw that many crabs needed adoption in our area and began to prepare. Now 3 years, three tanks and an additional 11 rescued hermit crabs we are finally content (maybe?).
Food for the hermit crabs was always an area of concern for me. I wanted to make sure they were healthy and had access to all the things they needed to thrive. I watched videos, read blog posts, searched safe food lists, ordered from sellers on Etsy and eventually started dehydrating ingredients and making my own food mixes. After about six months of preparing food and amassing a huge cabinet of ingredients I decided to start selling the mixes I made. A lot of the items I wanted to feed my crabs came in bulk packages and I knew I would never use them in time. The shop began as just a way to share those extra ingredients and some fun things I created myself. Now it has become a huge part of my life! I love coming up with new mixes, finding interesting new ingredients, preparing the food, chatting with customers and giving back to the hermit crab community.
I still support other shops as well because I know how satisfying and rewarding it is to get an order, a good review or a picture of someone's hermie enjoying the foods I made.

How long does it take for you to ship items? Why does shipping take this long?
Our shipping time varies based on the item purchased. Stickers ship within 1-3 business days and food ships within 1-6 business days. Shipping time varies depending on how many orders we have, how many items are in each order and which items were purchased. We have never shipped an item past the Etsy promised shipping time.
We strive for excellence and always want our buyers to get items that are correct and are high quality. We keep a very small inventory on hand so that the items we send are fresh. This means that we take the time to shop, prepare ingredients and make mixes 6 days a week. While this affects our shipping time, we think it is important to maintain quality. :)
