About

The Fibers of Fashion

My grandma sat in her oversized, beige recliner, a wicker basket of yarn at her feet and hook in hand. I couldn't take my eyes off of the way her hands turned one long piece of string into completely different objects, with shape and definition and texture. There were hats, booties, and blankets all finished and set aside.

"Grandma will you teach me how to do that?" I wasn't confident in my ability to learn, but my interest overcame me. She almost immediately took me to the craft store to pick out the yarn I would use to invent new things, the way she had.

I pulled a large skein of Super Saver blue and brown yarn off the shelf. It wasn't very pretty, it wasn't very soft, but it caught my eye. So, we set to work.

She began with what seemed a simple baby blanket, but my loops twisted and tangled; I couldn't find my stitches and frustration flooded my hands as I attempted to hide my mistakes.

Grandma took my "blanket" piece, pointed to my mistakes and slowly unraveled my shoddy attempt. "Here, try again. We'll get this right." She handed the significantly smaller swatch back to me and I set to work again. A few more unraveling sessions got the lesson impressed in my mind and I was able to work without supervision.

Enough time had passed and I wanted to take on a bigger challenge. I researched current fashions, modified patterns to suit my fancy, and taught myself more and more stitches to incorporate. My hands are always stitching on projects with new shapes, definitions, and textures. I've found myself addicted to the relaxation of creativity! And no one can stop it.

It begins with a piece of string, a little bit of patience, and a fantastical idea before I Craft Like Wild.

Payment
I accept paypal, credit/debit card, and etsy gift cards! Nothing is shipped until payment is received.
With large orders and orders where I need to buy supplies online I may require a down payment or full purchase before I set to work, to avoid wasted labor.

If a custom order is not paid for within one week from listing date, I reserve the right to sell the order to another interested buyer.
Shipping
I ship through the United States Postal Service (USPS) using the most cost effective shipping service. The shipping price includes packaging materials, cost to ship, and tracking number.

For International shipping I will refund any excess you paid in shipping through paypal. Example: if you pay the ten dollar shipping, and it only costs 5 dollars, I will refund you 5 dollars.

When I have shipped any orders I send an email notification stating so, the estimated arrival date (this is just an estimate), and the tracking number. Domestic orders generally take about 3-5 business days, international generally takes about 7-10 business days.
Refunds and Exchanges
If for any reason you are unhappy with your item I will replace it with one that does make you happy, but I must be contacted within one week of expected shipping arrival. For cheaper items, I will refund the difference. For more expensive items, the difference will be charged.
In order for this to go smoothly I will need the original item sent back to me (you are responsible for return shipping). Once I have received the item I can ship the replacement.
For refunds, I will need the original item back in my possession, in its original state, before I can refund any money. All refunds will be issued through paypal.
Additional policies and FAQs
My work comes from a dog friendly home, while I do my best to keep my inventory separate from her, anyone with allergies should be aware. Colors may vary from monitor to monitor so please read item descriptions if you are concerned about certain details or colors.

Communication is so important for me so I do my best to be reliable and informative.
I love custom orders and I would be extremely happy to design something new for you. Send me your ideas, preferred colors, and (if there's a concern about it) your measurements and preferred materials so I can get to work. When everything is finished I send a conversation containing the link to the page, if a link doesn't work any custom orders can be found under my "Reserved" shop section.
If the order has not been paid for within two weeks, the item will no longer be reserved and anyone can purchase it. That is, unless I am warned before I have listed the item.

With custom orders and made to order items please allow for at least 3-5 business days (5-7 business days for more complex work) for creation per item plus shipping time (I will let you know how long I expect your order to take). With custom orders where I need to order supplies online please allow for about two weeks on top of the production time. These time frames are estimates please make me aware of any time constraints and I will do my best to work with you.
