I love the wood desk clock. It was a bit difficult to set the time, but with a tiny (like the size for eye glasses) screwdriver, I was able to do it. Thank you, Paul!

About

The Birthday Gift That Changed My Life

It was January 1996 on my 52nd birthday when my wife gave me a Scroll Saw. Not being a woodworker, I had never heard of a scroll saw. ..( A scroll saw is a small motorized machine that could best be described as a sewing machine that has a tiny saw blade instead of a needle.) So instead of sewing, it saws small pieces of wood by following a glued on pattern.

After work I would come home and play around with the machine and make gifts for the family. I eventually got pretty good at making some really nice things like jewelry boxes, wild life pictures and so on. Well it wasn’t too long when my friends and neighbors would see my work and of course they wanted me to make them something.

I realized then that I had a product that would sell easily. I bought a bigger Scroll Saw and specialized in making wood clocks. My wife and I hit the road and sold our clocks at various craft shows, where the clocks sold like hot cakes. I had many repeat customers and had customers who asked me to design custom clocks that they wanted.

After doing this for 5 years I became really exhausted at having to spend long and sometimes very hot weekends setting up for the various shows. When my wife and I watched a TV program about this new craft site on the web called ETSY. We decided to give it a try as it would beat hitting the road every weekend. We really liked the ease of setting up our site on ETSY and we have had success in selling our clocks.

So now that I’m retired from the printing business I am going to devote more of my time with ETSY and see what can really develop. After all you can only reap what you put into your work and ETSY will help you with all the rest.

Welcome to Craft Work Designs where I have fun at being creative with wood art form.

My name is Paul Hambrick, the owner, creator of this site. I have been a wood scroller for 18 years now and still going stronger than ever, even though I'm now 70 years old.

"These clock and art silhouette cut-outs are a highly detailed 'age old' art form. I have been accused many times of using a laser machine to do the cuttings". But I assure you that I do it the old fashion way, with Lots of Love for the art.
