I purchased this as a gift and to tell you the truth I haven't received this item yet. *The Maker/Seller is an expert in this field of paper crafting so I was delighted to be added to her list of orders and a deadline date for delivery before I will need it. I'm so excited to have found this unique item on Etsy!

I sent this to my parents as an anniversary gift and could not be more pleased with the product and the customer service. I placed my order on Saturday morning and it was delivered Monday afternoon. Marnie was more than happy to remove any payment information and add a gift note, which I found out later was handwritten and also included a note from her wishing my parents well! I am told it came beautifully packaged and my parents are thrilled with the quality of the piece. Highly highly recommend!

About

Welcome to Crafterall!

It’s been said that “Nature is the best architect,” and when it comes to the shapes and depths of the lakes and rivers in Minnesota, I wholeheartedly agree. With retreating glaciers, prehistoric meteors, and a vast network of underground aquifers as the designers, my job is simply to recreate these unique shapes, translating depths into layers of colored cardstock, and shorelines into modern art.

Each piece is meticulously cut from high-quality cardstock, using an arsenal of tiny blades, then assembled together, one layer at a time.

My repertoire grows with custom requests, and nearly everything in the shop today started with someone asking me if I could "cut" their lake, or shoreline, or island, or river bend, etc. As the body and scope of my work continues to grow, so grows my cutting and layering techniques, and my abilities to take on new challenges.

Everyone's got a lake. What's yours?

  • Marnie Karger

    Owner, Artist

I'm a Minnesota native, living near the Twin Cities metro area. I work from home, occupying a spare bedroom with my studio. I share my home with my mega-hunky husband, our two clever daughters, and a pair of long-leggedy retired racing greyhounds.

  • Adrienne Rochester

    Artist

Adrienne has a BA in Visual Art and is meticulous about the pieces she makes. When not cutting lakes for Crafterall, she makes and sells beautiful, high-quality frames to galleries. She is also, quite possibly, the biggest fan of Man or Astro-Man?

  • Puppers!

    Gravity Control

Kylie and Nova are our two retired racing greyhound littermates. Their important role in Crafterall is to hold down the floor in case there's a sudden change in gravity, and to make sure any crumbs are swiftly dispatched.

Payment
I accept payment through Etsy Direct Checkout, PayPal, money orders, and personal checks. I will ship your purchase once your payment has cleared. I reserve the right to cancel a transaction after three days if I do not receive your payment in that time.

Minnesota Customers: MN sales tax is added to all orders for Minnesota addresses.
Shipping
Getting mail that isn't junk or bills is such a treat. It's one of the reasons I make my own cards. I package purchased items as safely and nicely as I can without charging an arm and a leg. Whenever possible I use recycled materials and reuse bubble wrap and tissue from the many purchases I make on Etsy.

I ship through USPS using First Class mail, and I try to send your package within 24 hours of your cleared payment. If you would like an upgrade to Priority Mail or would like to purchase insurance for your item, contact me and I will prepare an adjusted invoice. I work to provide safe and fairly priced shipping options. If the shipping cost is much less than billed, I will gladly refund the additional amount through PayPal. International buyers are responsible for all fees and taxes associated with items crossing borders.

Please make sure your shipping address is correct. If not, please clarify the address to which you prefer me to send your purchased item. If a package comes back to me due to an error on your part (inaccurate address, etc), I will send you an additional invoice via paypal to cover cost of re-shipment.

Live in the western Hennepin county area (Excelsior, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Chanhassen, etc.)? Feel free to contact me for a local pick-up and save yourself a few bucks.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase in any way, please contact me to resolve the issue. I will always offer a refund of the item and original shipping cost if you are disappointed with the quality of work or if the description does not match what you received. Please notify me immediately and return the item (at your expense) within 7 days.
Additional policies and FAQs
F.A.Q.s:

http://www.crafterall.com/search/node/FAQ

Q. Where can I see your work in person?

A. Several awesome shops around the county carry Crafterall works. You can see the whole list on my website: www.crafterall.com/shop

Local Twin Cities folks can also usually find me at the No-Coast Craft-O-Rama Holiday show on the first Friday and Saturday in December each year.

Finally, you can schedule to visit me at my home in Shorewood. If you contact me ahead of time, I'd be happy to show you some color options or design options so that you can make the best decision.

Q. Can you send color swatches before I order something?

A. Picking a color can be really hard. I'd be happy to mail you some small color swatches. I ask only that you purchase a piece first and request the swatches in your order. Then, after you've received the swatches and selected a color, I'll make your piece and send it to you in the color you've chosen.

Q. I saw a piece on your blog that's not listed in your Etsy shop. Can I request it anyway?

A. In most cases, I'd be delighted to recreate a custom piece for you. Just contact me the details, and we'll go from there. Rarely, I make a piece that I either cannot or will not remake. But it never hurts to ask.

Q. Do you accept requests for custom orders?

A. Yes! I relish the opportunity to create a custom Crafterall handmade work for you. We can work off of an existing piece from my shop or create something entirely new. Please contact me to share your ideas and goals for a new project.

Q. Will you consider wholesale inquiries?

A. Yes! Large, bulk, and wholesale inquiries are most welcome. Please contact me with your interest.

Q. These pieces seem thicker than a photography or a poster. Can they still be framed in a store-bought frame?

A. You bet. They are a little thicker than a photo print, but not by much. I recommend framing most pieces with a mat and frame combo. Frames built for mats usually have a little extra room, and the mat really enhances the sense of depth in the pieces.

Q. Do you sell your work framed?

A. No. I leave that to the capable and creative hands of the professionals. If you ask, I'd be happy to recommend some local folks who do good work.

Q. What's the best way to contact you?

A. You may either send me a convo via Etsy or e-mail directly at Marnie.Karger [!at] gmail.com. I tend to check my e-mail many times a day and work to reply to your messages as soon as I can.

Q. Do you like marshmallows?

A. Yes! Raw, melty, burned, store-bought, homemade, flavored, plain, fresh, crusty: yum. (Circus peanuts do not count as marshmallows. Those are icky.)

Q. Do you ever have any sales?

A. Occasionally, but, if you've read this far, I want to thank you. To show my appreciation, use the coupon code "ISURVIVED" when you check out, and you will receive 10% off your purchase. Good on you! (Please use this code only once.)
