Announcement   Crafty Meankitty and her human are thrilled to offer handmade, crocheted accessories and, ah, dangly bits in all colors and shades, occasionally with beads, cats and cursing. Funny how those things go together so well. Some items would be considered inappropriate. You've been warned :).

I can't say enough good things about these gloves. I told Jody that my 9 year-old daughter's favorite colors were orange and purple - and Jody made me two pairs of gloves (one in each color). I gave them as a Christmas present and my daughter adores them - especially mixing it up and wearing one of each color. In fact, I have to tell my daughter to take them off for meals and baths - and my daughter doesn't want to! The gloves are so well made - they are stylish and cute and just plain fun. And my daughter says she loves how soft they are. The yarn is kind of shiny and silky and it is holding up to the abuse my daughter has been inflicting on them 24 hours a day:) I will be buying more of these in the future.

These are also AMAZING. What a hysterical yet fantastic gift I'm so luck to get to give.

About

Cats + writing + crocheting = CraftyMeankitty!

I am a fiction author by trade, but I find that it's very gratifying to create something small and FINISH it in a shorter space of time than it takes me to write a book. Thus I discovered that I adore crocheting small items like earrings, necklaces, hats and amigurumi. I get the satisfaction of hooking "the end" in a single day sometimes. Plus I often get to use STIFFY on the finished product, and plus I apparently have the sense of humor of a 12 yr old.

Which explains some of the inappropriate items in my shop, don't you think?

I use cotton crochet thread for my earrings and the occasional bead. Accessories like key chains tend to be acrylic or other sturdy yarns. Amigurumi is usually an acrylic yarn for sturdiness, fiberfill, and some kind of weight at the bottom for stability, so the little guy can stand on his own.

When I crochet, there are usually cats and kids up in my business, so there may be the occasional stray cat hair in your lovely items. It adds character and makes it more purrrrrfect.

I like to crochet small things so it's over with faster. Not that I hate crocheting--far from it--but I like to get to the zing of completion as quickly as possible.

My items are primarily crocheted from free or paid patterns created by other people who have given users permission to sell items based on their patterns. If you want to know where I found a pattern, just ask! While my thread, fiberfill, and findings are generally new, most of my beads and buttons are repurposed from old jewelry or clothing.

Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders take longer! We can discuss how much longer in email--definitely a week, minimum.

Why? Because first I crochet the item, which may take a week or more depending on life events, then I might sew some stuff onto it, and then I maybe glue or paint some stuff on it, then maybe it needs weapons or hats, then I might use STIFFY on it, and it has to dry, and then I need to put hardware on it, like all those little hookie and hoopie things (the technical terms) for earrings, and then I have to take photos of it in various places so I can remember it always, and then I have to try to pull the Meankitty hairs out of it, and then I have to, finally, go to the post office.
