The first mosaic I made was a birdfeeder about 10 years ago in a stained glass shop in Texas. I really enjoyed the process and end product. I decided to start my own mosaic business after moving to Virginia in 1997. The first products I made were birdfeeders and candleholders using cut stained glass and glass gems. I then started to mosaic different wood and glass items. I wanted to make something that was pretty but yet functional, so after a few prototypes I came up with a wood base for mosaic trivets. I made them with cut stained glass as well as glass tiles. The trivets are a frequent seller because of their beauty and functionality. My customers often buy additional trivets as gifts after they bought one for themselves and loved it.
I've recently started experimenting with paper to make mosaic trays and picture frames. The paper is sealed with 2 layers of Mod Podge and then polyurethane spray for durability. All of my products make wonderful gifts either for yourself or someone else!
