This book cover is beautiful and fits good in the book "The Neverending Story"! However, I had to drive 50 km to the nearest customs office to pay duties for 12, 00 euros, because the bill was not visible from the outside of the package. . :( However, thank you for this wonderful book ! Many greetings from Germany and Merry Christmas ! :)

As described … it's obvious a lot of work went into it.

About

Creative Whimsicality

I've been creating things for years and one day I realized that I would have to do something about all the art piling up in my house! That was when I decided to open my Etsy shop.

I minored in jewelry design in college, which is where I learned to carve, sculpt and assemble my jewelery. Clothing is something I taught myself through books, lots of practice, and an imagination that wouldn't stop!

When I started making clothing I wasn't satisfied to just buy yards of new fabric because I wanted to be more Earth friendly. Upcycling was the perfect answer for me! I started 'treasure hunting' at thrift stores for the best used fabrics and soon I became an expert at finding the best quality used fabric (a mix of durable, pretty, and non-synthetic) - I could soon find a cashmere sweater in a bin of other clothes like a blood hound!

For those who are unfamiliar with the term, upcycling is essentially rescuing old clothes from being thrown out and giving them new life. It is a practice that is becoming more popular because of the attention brought to all the waste that is going on in the clothing industry. Often great quality sweaters and clothes get donated because they have a hole somewhere or a stain - and then when no one wants them they get thrown out. However, they can still be re-used because the offending part can be cut off and the rest of the good quality fabric put to use. As a good steward of the Earth I feel it is my duty to Upcycle whenever possible, so most of my clothing is made from re-used materials.

The Process:

I regularly visit lots of thrift stores to stock up on fabrics. When I bring them home all items go through a thorough wash with homemade hypoallergenic laundry soap. After they are clean they are cut and sewn together into their new awesome shape where they then wait on a hanger for their new owner. Before each item gets shipped out they get washed again (or dry cleaned depending on the item) to ensure no allergens of any kind are present.

I also have an illustrated blog about my life if you want to know more about me!: http://www.whimofwhimsicality.blogspot.com

Ever since I was small I loved to create from anything I could get my hands on and that has never changed. My goal is to make crafting my career and this Etsy shop is the first step to achieving my dream!

Welcome to my shop!

Everything you find here is carefully hand made or hand assembled, so there will be a large amount of wonderful variations between each product; that's the beauty of hand made! No two creations are alike.

Customer satisfaction is my number one concern and I will go to great lengths to make sure you are satisfied! I follow the consumer commandment; Sell unto others as you would have sold unto you!

Payment
At this time credit card, Paypal, and Etsy gift cards are accepted. Checks and money orders are not accepted at this time. Payment must be received in full before I ship out your purchase. If payment is not received within one week the order will be cancelled and the item will be re-listed.

Layaway is available for all items that cost more than $60. Payment will be divided into three equal parts, or four equal parts for items more than $200. The first payment is a nonrefundable deposit as a fee for holding the item. Once the item is completely paid for it will be shipped. If you are more than one week late on a payment you will be given a refund minus the deposit and the item will be re-listed. There is a 5% additional charge for layaways for processing fees. If you wish to put an item on layaway please message me and I will set it up. Different payment options are possible (for example if you need to do five payments, or if you want to do more than one payment a month) depending on the item. Feel free to contact me with any questions!
Shipping
Most made to order items will ship within five days, and pre-made items will ship within three days, although they usually ship next day if the order is not placed on the weekend.

I will ship outside of the continental US and Canada, however since shipping price varies so much between countries and different policies each international shipping item will have a custom quote. Contact me if you want to buy but are out of the country and I will figure out the best option to get it to you! Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred.

The listed shipping price for each item is an estimate, as shipping is determined by many factors that cannot be known until the item is purchased and ready to ship. If the final shipping cost is lower (more than 4.00$ difference) than the listed shipping price you will be refunded the difference. If the price turns out to be considerably higher (more than 4.00$ difference) you will be sent a bill for the additional charge.
For non-custom items shipping can be determined immediately before purchase. Send me a message before you purchase and I will change the shipping cost.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will accept all returns for any reason (except damages caused by negligent actions by the buyer) within seven days of you receiving the product. Beyond seven days I am willing to negotiate, depending on the circumstances, but I reserve the right to refuse returns after the seven day period. The customer is responsible for paying return postage.
Additional policies and FAQs
All items are made in a completely smoke free house.

Allergy information: I own two cats. I do my best to ensure that all materials are kept away from them, and each non-wool item is washed or cleaned before shipping to make certain there are no allergens. However, no process is perfect so if you are severely allergic (i.e. anaphylactic shock severe) take extra caution.

All upcycled items are made from reused fabrics and because of this the fabric may have imperfections here and there. This is a part of the charm! However I do my best to only choose gently used and in good condition fabrics. All fabrics are washed before and after the creative process (wool products are only washed before to ensure there will be no shrinkage once the piece is complete) to ensure complete cleanliness. All items are hand made and don't look completely perfect in every way, but every item is built to be durable and long lasting for your wearing pleasure.
