About CrimsonCactus

On Etsy since 2011

Proudly creating handmade products as unique as the Crimson Cactus!

Crimson Cactus officially began as a mother / daughter business in 2011, but the seed was planted long before then! My mother, Patti started making ceramic pieces in 1981 in North Carolina as a way to provide a 'second' income and allow her to stay at home with my older brother and I. She started exhibiting pieces in arts and craft shows in the Carolinas. In the late 80's our family moved to El Paso, TX, where we did shows and festivals throughout west Texas and southern New Mexico. Another move in 2003, took us to the Kansas City, Missouri area. In 2005 I became a mother as well, welcoming my son to our family! Mom and I kept our craft business going with mostly ceramic items but in 2006, we added hand-poured soy candles and hand-crocheted necklaces to our product line.

In 2011, we came back to Texas and opened our Etsy shop! We chose the name Crimson Cactus because that is a very unique cactus flower and each of our items are hand-made and one-of-a-kind...just as unique as the Crimson Cactus.

In the spring of 2014, following several months of illness, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and later that year, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, Mom passed away in the summer of 2017, but with the continued support & encouragement of my husband and son, I am proud to keep growing this business! When the Covid pandemic hit in 2020, I shifted gears one more time and began making fabric face masks. More than 1800 masks were donated to hospitals and nursing homes all across the United States and I sold nearly 2500 more that shipped to 18 different countries!

Creating handmade items is a passion that truly does run in my family and I am proud to carry on the legacy that my mother started. As a seamstress, I design and create a variety of products, using up every last bit of fabric I can! Inventory is always changing and new products are added often, so please check back to see what's new!

Thank you for shopping with my family business!
