I couldn’t be more pleased with the two large prints I received from Lynne (Blue Islands and The Black Cullen). She has an amazing eye and her moody pieces are particularly evocative. The paper is sumptuous and the color saturation wonderfully rich. Both combine to transport you to this stormy Scottish shore. An added pleasure is communicating with Lynne. She’s kind and warm with a great sense of humor. This was one of those Etsy experiences that is rewarding on many levels. A+++

About

Living the Dream on the Isle of Skye

Hello and thanks for stopping by…

A little bit about me and my dreams….

I always wanted to be an artist, since I was young I played with paint and pencils. In later years I took up photography and discovered a passion for the landscape. Over the years I have moved house three times to follow my love of photography and I recently moved up to the Isle of Skye in the north of Scotland where my husband Steven and I found the house of our dreams.

We now live on top of a cliff with our dogs in an area of outstanding beauty on this romantic island. We overlook a small loch (lake) called Loch Mealt at the foot of the Trotternish Ridge. This area is often in the movies and was recently used to film Macbeth but has also been in others and we have dramatic standing stones like those seen in Outlander.

Skye is a magical place, full of mountains, dramatic coastline and fabulous wildlife. Even when it rains there are odd bursts of light and wonderful rainbows. We have otters at the bottom of the garden, or so I am told, I have yet to spot them and we have footprints left by dinosaurs on the beaches near the house. The place is filled with hill walkers in the summer months but is quiet and restful in Winter when I take most of my photographs. It is often very windy up here on the cliff but I love the feel of sea air in my face and watching the sun come up over the islands in the distance. I have added a video and some photos of the locations I visit to give you an idea of how dramatic this place is.

Since I started my shop on Etsy things have snowballed with exhibitions in New York and building my own Gallery and Cafe here on the island. It will be called the Kilt Rock Gallery and Cafe where we will sell my work and some of the other types of photography that I do. If you are ever up this way we would love to meet you and offer you a coffee while you enjoy the fabulous views.

My work is all about colour and composition, I am not very interested in the mechanics of photography, which can be a bit daunting for a beginner. Now that I am experienced with my tools I am getting more and more interested in the creative side of photography, moving the camera and adding more surfaces to create an impressionist feel to the work. Once I am out there in the early morning haze of blue and pink as dawn approaches, I forget the cold feet, hands and nose and can only think about how best to capture some of this magic to share with others....that and perhaps a good coffee!

I have two very large printers, one can print over 44 inch prints and canvases so if there is a particular item you want and you don't see it listed, just drop me a line. As you will see from the reviews I have a lot of customers who are happy with the special connection we made while working up orders just for them. I like to drop in a little free gift and 10% discount coupons with every purchase and I am open to negotiation on the price of the larger items.

So, if you want some dramatic Scottish Art to fill that big space on your wall or a small unique gift for someone special, just get in touch!

Thanks for stopping by,

Lynne

I live on the dramatic Isle of Skye in Scotland. The light is fabulous for photography so I am constantly inspired by the endless drama of the land and sea. I am opening a small gallery so if you ever visit this part of the world, come say hello.

  • Steven

    Assistant

Husband Steven is building our new Skye Blue Gallery over here on Skye. He is a happy go lucky type of person, mad keen on motorbikes and loves animals. He packs all the prints, does the posting for me.

  • Ellie

    Team Mascot

Ellie is our little rescue success. She was the only survivor of five pups and started life as a terrified little mite. She is now a feisty little character with a mind of her own. The sheep around here sometimes think she is a lamb, until she barks!

  • Tam

    Chief Scamp

This is our little Tam, we got him at the same time as Ellie when they were both 7 weeks old and they are devoted to one another. Tam is a little scamp, leading the way to escaping from the garden and digging holes! Loves treats !

  • Pip

    Art Critic

This is Pip, a little working cocker and our chief art critic. She has been known to take one look at a picture and walk out of the room! She is a little softie, loves to swim and barks at everyone until she has had a pat, or two, or even three...!

Welcome to The Skye Blue Gallery, home to Crionna Photography and other arts and crafts from the Isle of Skye, Below are a list of promises I make to you when you purchase one of my prints.

If the information below does not answer all your questions then please just drop me a line and I will be happy to discuss any requirements or questions you have.

I offer the following warranties on all products:

1) I certify that all images were taken my me and developed using my personal style making these images unique. When you invest in one of my prints your are buying an item that is not reproducible by anyone else.

2) An online image is only a close approximation of the final print. The original prints and canvases have more subtle colours, more detail and have a wonderful texture impossible to show on a web image. I am completely confident you will be very happy when you unwrap them.

3) I offer a 100% money back, credit or replacement policy for the first month of your purchase. If the print or canvas does not meet satisfaction in any way you can return it with no questions asked provided it is returned in the condition in which it was received. See Refund for more detail.

4) All prints, canvases, frames and prints on aluminium are produced using the highest quality fine art archival materials. Limited editions paper prints are signed, titled and numbered on the front. Unlimited prints are signed and dated on the back. Canvases are signed on the side or on the back. Aluminium prints are not signed unless requested.

5) All prints (Paper, Canvases, Aluminium & Open Editions) are made using top of the range intensely coloured, fade-free ink, the ink is guaranteed not to fade for 100 years. This means your print can become a family heirloom!

6) All Limited Editions come with a unique 'Crionna Photography Certificate of Authenticity'. This ensures your investment is protected as no more prints will be made after the edition sells out. Your Certificate will show which print number you purchased, the details of the paper or canvas used, the specifications of the ink and the edition number. It will be signed and dated by me.

7) All prints are printed and quality controlled. For paper prints I use a process called giclee on a 44 inch a state-of-the-art printer, this means the 9 different colours of ink are sprayed onto the paper or canvas. The printer is calibrated to ensure perfect rendition of the colours on my screen. I use a 27 inch Apple Imac so that I can zoom in close to ensure each print is sharp where it should be.

8) All Mounted Prints are mounted on acid free archival quality mount board and backing by hinge mounting. Frames are handmade using high quality materials and prepared by a small team of specialist framers. Our framers are Fine Art Trade Guild qualified which is a highly prized status ensuring ethical practices, ecological principles and highest standards of craftsmanship.

9) Editions come in various sizes but no more than a maximum of 250 numbered prints or canvases will be produced - this makes these exceptionally rare around the world. The larger the size the rarer they get eg usually only 5 or 10 available at sizes over 30 inches.

10) I use a state of the art Epson 9890 44" printer which can print exceptionally large prints and canvases. The sizes are adaptable, I accept special requests for very large prints if the image is of high enough resolution.

11) All canvases get 2 coats of Hannemuhle Fine Art matte varnish, this protects them from being scratched.

12) I use very good quality wooden stretcher bars for any ready-to-hang canvas prints. Rather than provide a cheap, easily warped frame, I stretch my work on thick strong bars that will ensure the print does not sag.

13) For mounted prints, I use bright white mountboard, small prints are single mounted, larger prints are double mounted which gives a very luxurious look to the framed work. I use archival materials and acid free mountboards to ensure the prints are kept in pristine condition over the years.

14) I aim to prepare and ship your print within 7 business days so that it arrives safely and in perfect condition. Canvases take longer as they have to have time to dry, in between varnishes so they can take a week to prepare. Please let me know if this is a gift and needs to arrive by a specific date and I will work to make that happen.

15) Framing and Metal Prints - I am now offering the option of having your print arrive at your home ready to hang either framed or printed on a highly contemporary slimline aluminium plate. These options are available for all prints but it will take some time to update all my listings so please get in touch if you would like prices for these options.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I value any comments or suggestions you care to make.

Regards,
Lynne

PACKAGING - Mounted and unmounted small paper prints are cello wrapped and packed with sturdy board to protect them. Large prints and canvas are carefully rolled and slipped into large heavy duty art shipping tube as this is safer. Please take great care when taking them out of the tube. You may need to take the image to a framer to have this done. If you do it yourself try not to put fingers on the surface of the print and handle it at the edges. Make sure you take it out to unfold on a dry clean table. The paper will be curved so allow it time to open gradually, don't force it flat.

Aluminium and framed prints will come to you in bespoke boxes that are packed with foam to protect the image.

UK SHIPPING - Prints are shipped by Royal Mail - in UK they should arrive within 2 - 3 days.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING - Prints shipped internationally may take a couple of weeks so please allow enough time if this is gift item. Faster options for shipping are available at an additional cost, if you don't see it listed just contact me for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

Absolutely! I love hearing from my clients exactly what they want, it makes it even more special for me as the artist. I do custom sizes to suit your space. I am happy to do a room mock up in the colours of your background so that you can see how your picture will look on the wall.

Sizing details

The sizes in the listing are the image size, each paper print has a border in white which makes it easy to frame. The title, number of the print and the signature are at the bottom in my limited edition prints. Canvases are made about 3 inches bigger than the picture so that there is material to stretch round the sides. Just ask if you have any questions.

Care instructions

The paper prints are made from beautiful fine art paper, they need to be handled carefully when they arrive. They are shipped in a tube to ensure they are not damaged so when you get your delivery take some time to take this out of the tube and let it open gradually, you may want your framer to do this. If you decide you can't wait to open it (like me!) then try to handle it only at the edges and let it unravel slowly without forcing it flat. Good things come to those who wait!

Wholesale availability

Yes, I do, designers and retailers please get in touch for my linesheet.

Framing and Canvas Stretching

Yes, I can have your image framed or stretched so that it arrives ready to hang. I work with framers in the US and UK who make high quality frames so please get in touch to discuss options. I will be uploading a selection of frames in the near future so that you can choose straight from Etsy!
