Inside the Crystal Lion Shop

From the start, we have vowed to bring you the best of the best in the world of gems and minerals. Kristina Mercedes, the Crystal Lion's owner and founder, personally hand selects each and every crystal that comes through the shop, choosing as if they were going into her own collection! We specialize in rare, unusual, and simply beautiful gems and minerals that are ethically and conscientiously mined from all over the world. Sustainability is at the heart of every aspect of the Crystal Lion - from ecologically sound mining practices, to how the stones are shaped and carved, integrity is the thread upon which the Crystal Lion was weaved. We believe that when your crystals are mined from the earth considerately, and are treated with care and respect as they are carved, their energy remains high and pure. When the humans who work to bring these crystals into our hands and onto our altars are paid fair wages, given safety gear to mine, and have health benefits extended to their families, the crystals energy reflects the care and respect through every step of the process.

With these values in mind, you won't find everything at the Crystal Lion all of the time. Certain gems and minerals come from parts of the world that are either inaccessible at certain times per year, or are otherwise not able to be ethically and fairly sourced. Human, environmental, and animal welfare at the top of list of important factors to consider when sourcing crystals. We are proud to bring you pieces we love and stand behind, from Earth to Altar. ™️

Frequently asked questions
How will my order ship?

All orders under 15 oz ship USPS First Class mail. Orders over 15 oz ship Priority Mail, per the USPS regulations. If your parcel ships Priority Mail, it is automatically insured up to $100. If you would like to upgrade your order to Priority shipping, please contact me BEFORE placing the order, or write in your notes to seller if you would like an upgrade or additional insurance. I will then set up a new listing for you to pay the addition shipping charges, if needed.

Do you ship internationally?

We do! The Crystal Lion shop is located in NC, USA, and we do ship outside of the United States. International shipping charges vary from country to country. Please feel free to contact me with the items you would like to purchase, and I will generate a quote for you within a few days. Please note that international shipping quotes vary based on size and weight of the item.

Import duties, VAT, taxes and charges are the buyer's responsibility for international orders. Please note that these charges are not included in the shipping cost quoted in the Crystal Lion shop.

What if my parcel is lost/missing/stolen?

If your package is lost, missing, or stolen, I will do my best to help you locate it. Once you have visited and spoken with your local post office to confirm its whereabouts, we can file a claim if necessary. Please remember that filing a claim to receive reimbursement for the parcel's contents is easier if it ships Priority Mail. The Crystal Lion shop is NOT responsible for lost, missing, or stolen packages. Refunds are NOT issued for lost, missing, or stolen mail.

Will my parcel arrive in time for the holidays?

Please remember that holiday shipping is unpredictable and I highly recommend upgrading to Priority Mail during holiday weeks. An announcement will be made on the front page of the shop with the cut off date for guaranteed domestic holiday shipping.

Can I choose an individual stone from a group listing?

I cannot take individual photos of the stones offered in group listings. Often, the stones in a listing's photo have already sold, and these photos are examples of what you will receive. Group listings are kept affordable for you as I do not spend the time photographing each piece individually. They save me time and you money! Please contact me with any questions BEFORE placing your order.

These group listings are NOT eligible for reservations.

Speaking of reservations: Can I reserve an item?

Reservations are accepted on a case by case basis and may require a deposit. This depends on the buyer and the item being reserved. Deposits are 20% down on the entire reservation (including multiple items) and are NONREFUNDABLE. If the buyer purchases only part of the order, the 20% deposit on the non-purchased items is still nonrefundable.

Layaway services and payment plans are no longer accepted.

Group listings are NOT eligible for reservations.

Why don't you accept returns?

Returns are not accepted because each stone is a unique individual and it picks up the energy of those around it. The energetic integrity of the stones in the Crystal Lion shop has been preserved by cleansing, smudging, and minimally handling the stones prior to packing and shipping to you. I do my best to photograph each crystal thoroughly so the buyer knows what they're receiving.

I accept cancellations within 1 hour of purchase. If a shipping label has already been printed and paid for, I can refund the cost of the order MINUS the shipping charges. Cancellations and refunds are subject to a 20% restocking fee. If you choose to cancel an order, please contact me ASAP, the sooner the better.

Do you accept Custom Collection orders?

YES! One of my favorite things to do for customers is to create a custom collection of crystals based on their unique life circumstances and current needs. Here's how they work:

-We discuss a few poignant areas of your current life, what you're working on and need (done via Etsy message).
-Custom collection building times vary depending on the time of the year (this option may not be available during the holiday season).
-Custom collections are built intuitively - you tell me your budget, and I create a collection (which often includes many extras, gifts, and is valued at well over your budget!).
-Shipping and insurance are additional, and costs vary depending on the weight of the items collectively, and your parcel's value.

Do you refund extra shipping charge?

Yes and no. Etsy is very accurate at estimating how much shipping will cost to your destination (this varies based on the "zones" into which USPS has broken up the United States shipping areas). Orders over $100 often ship with additional insurance.

Please remember that ROCKS ARE HEAVY, and their weight adds up very quickly. I pack each and every parcel that goes out myself and large orders may sometimes take up to 1-2 hours to pack.

If you place multiple orders, excess shipping charges ARE NOT REFUNDED. Please put all of your items into ONE ORDER if consolidating shipping charges is important to you.

Absolutely NO refunding of excess shipping charges is available for multiple orders placed during the holidays.

Hey Kristina, why so strict with the policies?

Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries! I'm a full time mother to two young children, and the shop is my "third." It's important for me to be clear about the shop's policies so I can provide you with the best possible service AND still be available for my children, who always come first. I share all of the nitty gritty policies up front so there are no surprises if something arises.

By far, my experience selling on Etsy has been absolutely wonderful, and I have LOVED getting to know each of you and connecting you with your crystals. I truly love all of my customers! Sharing the energy of these stones with you continues to be a great joy, and I am so grateful for each of you. THANK YOU for supporting my shop!
