Announcement   We make garden tags, cheese tags, book marks, and wedding forks from old silver plate silverware. The pendants are made from vintage maps and dictionaries, and the woodwork is from wood found in dumpsters and construction sites. The illustrations we use for custom made collage necklaces are actual pages that come from vintage encyclopedias, cookbooks and children's books and are not copied. That means there may only be one or two of each image that we have. If there is an image you are interested in, for example, a certain animal, let us know and we will find it!

Curbside Pickins is a name we got from my brother -in-law who runs a recycling program in Michigan. He finds a lot of treasures from other people's trash and calls these treasures "curbside pickins". Keeping that theory in mind, we use a lot of materials from recycling centers, items that we find curbside or at construction site dumpsters. A lot of the fun behind our crafts is looking for and finding the materials we work with!

About

Crafty Marriage

We have been married for 18 years, and have worked a variety of jobs mostly focused on anti-sexual and domestic violence work, women's self-defense, social justice, anti-racism, activism and skateboarding. At one point we opened up a skateboard shop and made custom t-shirts in this shop. During our time together, we have made crafts as a side project from our jobs, mainly for gifts. We have always enjoyed coming up with ideas together, and working together especially during the holiday season. Two years ago, while Andy was a stay at home dad with our then two year old daughter, we decided to try and make crafts to sell at our holiday market. This was a great success, and have evolved into selling at our annual farmers market and now on Etsy! We try to use as many recycled products as possible, and search for materials at recycling centers, construction site dumpsters, second hand stores and what we find on curbsides.
