Weird but true!
I always wanted to be a professor, and was in grad school at the Ohio State University in Clinical Psychology. Then I began to get ill, and had to quit. It took several years to diagnose my problem - chronic pancreatitis due to a birth defect known as a pancreas divisum. I never did make it back to grad school, but fortunately my husband loves me enough to support me. Since then I have added several more chronic illnesses; life keeps on giving! I started crafting as a kid, and kept on because I was very bored between and during hospitalizations.
House is smoke free- NOT pet free. I try to keep them (and their hair!) out of my work, and clean it thoroughly before mailing, but I can't guarantee there will be no pet allergens.
My Glowforge has become my best buddy. My grandfather was a carpenter and home builder, and my dad was a life long wood worker. They both taught me to love making. With my health issues (3 back surgeries and another coming, broken both hips, pulmonary embolism…) it’s been impossible for me to work the way they did, and I missed it. Then I was able to get my Glowforge (took 5 years) and whew! I can’t build houses and things like they did, but I can build and it’s great. If you’re thinking about a Glowforge or other laser, I’d be happy to tell you the pros and cons I’ve found. I don’t make as much jewelry as I used to, but I like what I make more because I’m more able to design what I make.
