Taking a break from tech to share my passion for gifts with you!

My store has (or will have) a couple different facets: hand glass etching, sewing, and papercraft. Read a little bit about each section of my store below.

My Glass Etching Process:
A few years ago some friends of mine in Portland taught me how to use glass etching cream to make one-of-a-kind projects that were permanent. This was a revelation to me because at the time I was just drawing on glassware with oil pens and hoping that the gift recipient didn't put it through the dishwasher at some point (the temperature removes the oil pen's ink).

Over time this has become my greatest source of gifts to friends and I look at every glass item as a canvas that I should etch with something. I started out hand stenciling with my printer and trusty exacto knife, but now that I'm deciding to make a business out of this I use a Silhouette Portrait to cut my stencils with precision. Once I have the stencil the hardest part is now the placement and perfect stretching of the stencil before I apply the glass etching cream and then: voilà!

I hope you love giving these glass etched items (even if to yourself!) as much as I do. Please add my gift wrapping add-on for $5 if you so desire!

What I can do with needle and thread:
My mom taught me when I was a little girl to sew, and we made a few small projects. My love for technology quickly consumed my world though and I didn't pick up a needle and thread again until about 20 years later. At the time of writing this, about 3 months ago now, I decided that I would teach myself a new skill, something tactile and useful: sewing. I ordered a popular sewing machine on Amazon, a beginners book that swung heavily towards kinesthetic learners, and more colors of thread than you can shake a needle at.

My greatest frustration and delight with sewing are the amount of different fabrics out there. On one hand I love that I can go to Joann's and find just about anything I could imagine, and on the other, I can't easily ask someone to imagine all of the fabrics in the Joann's store to make a custom order for them without them being in the store.

Since my favorite type of project is a custom project, I encourage you pick a project in my store, go find a nearby fabric store, pick out something you like, and then ask me to make something with that, or a similar type of fabric. That would make me very happy to create something just for you!

Coming up next: Papercraft!
When I was a kid I really loved pop-up books. This grew into a fascination with pop-up cards as gifts to people as I've found that most people keep cards around in their lives, especially ones that are hand made. This was special to me because even if I gave someone something consumable or maybe something that could break over time, the card could potentially last in their possession forever.

I don't have any listings of my pop-up cards in my store at the moment as that is the next step in my crafting career, but favorite my store to stay tuned and see what types of papercraft I come up with in the future!

Thanks for reading!
