Beautiful painting with depths that didn't show until I held it in my hand. Very well protected during shipping and thank you for the lovely extra.

About

My art is about composing vibrant watercolors to capture subtle beauty in the world and express the serenity that can be experienced through nature.

I've been making art since childhood, and became a high school art teacher upon graduation from college. As an educator, it was important to know how to do a lot of art processes, although not necessarily become an expert of each. Breadth being more important than depth in that particular setting!

In my own work I needed focus so I have been working with watercolors for about thirty years. I love the unique character of watercolor derived from the extremes of impulsive spontaneity and complete control. My work is formalist; concerned very much with line, color, texture, shape and pattern. The content is based on a love of nature, capturing subtle beauty, and finding my happy place.

For variety I love creating mixed media collages using watercolor, acrylics, and sometimes vintage images. Graphite drawings are also something I enjoy doing.

Being better at making rather than marketing art makes selling a challenge, but for the past few years I've been working on establishing an online presence through my Etsy shop, my facebook page (facebook.com/CynART), and my Pinterest boards (pinterest.com/cynart). It’s all very exciting but there aren’t enough hours in the day!

Welcome to my shop! I'm an artist specializing in watercolor, but I also make mixed media collages and cards, and have limited edition prints for sale as well. My years of experience and passion for my subjects and materials goes into each piece I create, and it's my hope that one of them will "speak" to you! I'd love for one of my creations to enhance your home or be a special gift.
