I've been making art since childhood, and became a high school art teacher upon graduation from college. As an educator, it was important to know how to do a lot of art processes, although not necessarily become an expert of each. Breadth being more important than depth in that particular setting!

In my own work I needed focus so I've been painting with watercolor for about thirty-five years. I love the unique character of watercolor derived from the extremes of impulsive spontaneity and complete control. My work is formalist -- concerned very much with line, color, texture, shape and pattern. The content is based on a love of nature, capturing subtle beauty, and finding my happy place.

For variety I love creating mixed media collages using watercolor, acrylics, and sometimes vintage images. Graphite or ink drawings are also something I enjoy doing.

Being better at making rather than marketing art makes selling a challenge, but for the past few years I've been working on establishing an online presence through my Etsy shop, my facebook page (facebook.com/CynART), my Instagram account (instagram.com/cynreid) and my Pinterest boards (pinterest.com/cynart). It’s all very exciting but there aren’t enough hours in the day!
