Daniel crafts ​​figurative human and animal figures sculptedby hand or by means of the potters wheel. His sculptures are finished using oxides and self-developed glazes and slips.

The sculptures refer to traditional ceramic forms. The stoneware sculptures are finished using self-developed glazes and oxides and slips, the images are fired (in oxidation or reduction, depending on the desired effect) at 1230 0C (cone 7 to 8).

Inspiration

Every culture on earth has a long ceramic tradition. Functional forms where decorated from the beginning of mankind and formed to touch all of the senses. What inspired man since its creation to make aestetic objects in clay? I can not answer this question, but I do understand, I have the same urge. I am therefore a ceramist.

Dirt from the earth

Clay is a modest resource with the potential to capture ideas and emotions. Clay gives the possibility to satisfy deep-seated desires. But that's not the only thing that clay has to offer, it is older than the gods and gives a connection with the origin of mankind. In a society that is increasingly growing further apart from its roots, clay gives me a place where I can stand with my feet on the (clay) ground. In the (western) world where technology continually progresses and people are alienated from themselves and their environment, hand formed ceramics gives the human scale back. Not the tallest skyscraper or the smallest chip, but the pure form of a "pitcher", shows the ingenuity and aesthetics of the human spirit.
