l love pipes. I started out modifying corncob pipes. I start with one of the basic Missouri Meerschaum bowls. I turn new shanks from a variey of hardwwods and hand fit each one with a Vulcanite stem. These pipes will not accept a filter.

As my skills grew, I decided to add a line of briar pipes. These are hand crafted from solid briar blocks I buy directly from cutters in the Mediterranian area where the briar grows. I do not try to disguise blemishes (pits) in the briar. If it does not affect the integrity of the briar I let it ride. I also do not believe in staining any kind of wood. The briar pipes are left natural and finished with carnuba wax after being buffed to a high gloss. They will darken with age and use.

DGE is becoming synonomous with stubby nosewarmer pipes, both briar and corncob. But I also make them in standard and churchwarden length.

I cut my teeth woodturning by making pens and I still enjoy making them.
