Over time, your pieces will tarnish and age uniquely.. Brass will darker over time due to natural body oils and contact with water! Feel free to polish with a polishing cloth to renew the shine. Never polish any metal other than brass or silver, any polishing to a patina piece will compromise the effect.
Oxidised parts may get darker over time too but in case of intense rubbing the oxidised parts may get lighter and shiny. That is more likely to happen with rings .
