Announcement   Welcome to DVHdesigns custom lapidary work on Etsy! I'm David V. Horste and I've loved rocks, sparkly things, and ornament forever. I starting cutting stones when I was 10 (back in 1976!) and started silversmithing when I was 12. I have been a full time lapidary since late 1992, but quit the silversmithing by the mid '90's. My work went from freeform cabochons to mostly focal beads. I'm known as a "rogue lapidary" because while my work is mostly in "semi-precious" gemstones, I also work in non-traditional materials like bowlerite, fordite, boat-paintite, organic gemstones like jet and fossil ivory, and other odd treasures I can get my hands on! I pride myself on not just cutting original, top quality, focal beads, but also on providing my customers with as much accurate information as possible about the materials I use.

Occasionally I will do custom orders. If you have questions about my work or materials just contact me. Please feel free to like my DVHdesigns page on Facebook!

This was so much more gorgeous in person, the photos surely did not do this beauty any justice! The stone looks different with every turn and is SO chatoyant throughout...LOVE IT! David was a pleasure to work with and had great communication even when he was out of town for a few days at shows! David - A million X's...Thank You...for holding this treasure for me! It is gorgeous!

DVHdesigns is run by me, David V. Horste. I'm an internationally recognized Lapidary Artist whose work has appeared in Lapidary Journal and Bead & Button Magazine. My work is collected worldwide and has been exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum. I started cutting stones when I was 10 and have been a full time Lapidary Artist for nearly 18 years. I focus on one of a kind, centerpiece beads that I hand work in unusual gemstone, alternative, and recycled materials. I do sell cabs and some rough. I also have a focus on working in gemstone jet, reviving the Victorian tradition of mourning jewelry to help the bereaved. I don't do very much custom work, but if you have a need, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Shipping
As a general rule domestic shipping is by USPS 1st Class Mail, and I charge $3 to ship in a small jewelry box inside a padded bubble envelope. For fragile, really expensive, or multiple items that still come in under a pound in a small flat rate priority box to keep the shipping price at $6 for most items within the United States. Larger and heavier items, unless otherwise specified, will ship in the larger flat rate Priority boxes for $15. PLEASE NOTE: We try to ship every business day, so your purchase should be handled within 24 hours of receipt of your order. I also am happy to ship international. For MOST INTERNATIONAL ORDERS I can generally ship multiple pieces by USPS Air Mail for a flat rate of $10.00.
