About

It all started when I found Bamboletta Dolls two years ago.

Before my first child was born in 2010, I began my search for natural and handmade toys to surround her with. I soon found Waldorf dolls and was immediately smitten by Bamboletta, a dollmaker from the west coast of Canada. After nearly 2 years of trying to purchase one, I finally landed a blonde haired blue-eyed beauty (just like my lovely daughter) in February of 2012. After seeing in person just how small the doll and her clothes were, I saw an opportunity in the piles of tiny pieces of fabric that had been accumulating in my sewing room for many many years. Too small to make much of anything, but too pretty to just toss. I immediately set out to look for sewing patterns to use up all these itty bits, and came up pretty much empty handed for doll clothes in the 15" size range.
So, I got out my tape measure, took some measurements of the doll and went to work with a few yards of muslin and a roll of tracing paper. The real challenge was getting the clothes to fit well and look good, all while being easy for small hands to dress and undress their dolls.
As I refined my designs, I realized that I had a unique product developing before me, something that the etsy marketplace wasn't already flooded with. Surely, there had to be other moms like me who love to sew (or just hoard fabric) and would make a whole suitcase full of doll clothes if they didn't have to design something from scratch every. single. time.
The excitement for me is not in the finished product, its figuring out how to put something together, the tweaking and adjusting until something is *just* right. I have a backlog of sketches for new outfits- I'll keep publishing my patterns as long as my customers want to keep making their own doll clothes.
I've done the hard part, now you can just go and start sewing!

I've done the hard part- now you can just dive into your fabric stash and start sewing!!
Doll clothes are a great way to use up all those itty bits of fabric that you've been hoarding forever- you know the ones, too small to make much with, but too pretty to toss? Fat quarters of designer prints that you HAD to have, but don't have any specific plans for? Remember that favorite article of clothing that doesn't fit anymore, or got stained in the worst possible spot? These are all perfect for my patterns!
Make room for more fabric by using what you have!

Additional policies and FAQs
I do not include yardage requirements or cutting layouts, since my patterns are intended to help you use up you smaller scraps of fabric. Cut out your pattern pieces and lay them on your (pressed) fabric to find the best use of the material you have on hand. Fat quarters will also work well for many of my patterns- a great way to use small amounts of designer fabrics or color-coordinated bundles.

A few words for Etsy sellers and professional makers of doll clothes...
I am a work at home mom, designing these clothes, drafting the patterns, then writing and photographing the tutorials all while my two year old sleeps (or plays quietly, HA!). I realize that it is impossible to ask or expect my customers not to sell the doll clothes they make from my patterns, but please understand that it is an extraordinary amount of work to produce these documents. I hope that my customers, who are designers and work-at-home mothers like me will respect the following wishes if they will be selling clothes made from my patterns:

**Please give credit where credit is due- Include in your item description, "This dress was made from a DalaiMama Pattern" and a direct link back to my shop listing for the pattern you purchased. This also applies to any promotion via blog, Facebook, Etsy, personal websites, bigcartel, etc.

**Please do not mass produce my designs or offer "custom orders" made from my patterns. If a customer messages you privately to create a custom order using one of my patterns, that's one thing. But if your shop has "custom slot" type listings, I ask that you please do not offer my designs for sale in this way.
