Welcome to Dandelions Vintage & Antiques! (Dandelions Vintage for short)
**********************************************************************************************

I hope you enjoy your time visiting. About 95 percent of the items listed here are from a relative from my side or my husband's side of the family. My grandparents were well-known flea market shoppers in the 1940s - 1980s. They stalked up on not just two or three of one item, but 10 or 20 if they could! Then there are my husband's grandparents, who owned a large country general store in a little mining community in Pittsburgh. His grandma began going to estate sales years ago and the store, which they closed more than 25 years ago, became full of her finds. And then there's my mum and mother-in-law, who both know where to look, what to look for, and how to get a good bargain. I guess it's safe to say I'm related to a long line of "pickers". Because of our savings, I can pass my savings on to you. Don't pay triple or quadruple at an upscale boutique when you can buy it here!

I describe my items as accurately as I can because I want you to be confident in your purchase. I also accept returns (minus shipping and a 15% restocking fee, which covers the listing to be renewed and time spent packaging, going to the post office, gas, relisting, etc.) if you decide an item doesn't fit, or you just don't like the item as you thought you would. See my return policy, below.

Remember that vintage items have been worn and enjoyed in their previous life, and as a result they may - and almost undoubtedly will - have slight imperfections. Be prepared for some minor wear, and look at my photos carefully. I'd be happy to take more photos if you like, so just ask. I also gently clean items before listing with a phosphate-free, chemical-free plant-based cleaner. All items come from a smoke-free home, but I have cats so you may find a cat fur on an item because they like to sit on my desk when I print out invoices!

I love the Earth, and to help reduce our landfill waste, when I ship I used all reclaimed packaging boxes / envelopes - meaning I save it from being put into the landfill and recycle it by sending it to you.

Payment
UPDATED JANUARY 4, 2013

****************************************************************
PAYMENT METHODS
****************************************************************
I accept payment via Google Checkout (also called Google Wallet), Etsy Checkout, Etsy Gift Cards, Personal Check, Cashier's Check or Money Order (and cash if you are picking the item up - always an option for Pittsburgh residents). If necessary, I will also accept Paypal, although I despise them so I try not to use them if possible.

All payments must clear before I will ship an item, and payments should be received within 48 hours of purchase if you're paying via Google Wallet or Etsy Checkout. For Google Wallet transactions, I will send you an invoice if you specify the "other" option or "Google".

If you'd like to pay by Money Order or Personal Check, please convo/email me to tell me that you're paying that way, and please send your payment in the mail within 3 - 4 days. Payment not received within 10 business days will result in the cancellation of the transaction, unless you contact me first and have an extenuating circumstance. I understand a mailed payment from another country will take longer, thus I will allow 2 weeks for international mail payment.

****************************************************************
CANCELLATIONS:
****************************************************************
A request to cancel your order must be placed within 48 hours of purchase. If the item has already been shipped, please see the Refunds and Exchanges policy, below.

****************************************************************
RESERVED LISTINGS:
****************************************************************
If you'd like me to reserve a listing (it's like a lay-away so no other person can purchase the item until you can pay for it), you must put a 20% non-refundable deposit down for the item. I will send you an invoice. I have placed very nice items on reserve for different people on more than one occasion, only to find out 2-4 weeks later that the person changed her mind. If you need a payment plan, we can negotiate one as well, so please ask.
Shipping
UPDATED APRIL 5, 2012

****************************************************************
PACKAGING:
****************************************************************
All of my items are shipped in reclaimed, but sturdy and usable boxes or envelopes. Together we are saving a box or envelope from the landfill. The only new things I use are gift wrap, labels and tape. Everything else I'm using would have been thrown away otherwise. The only exception to this 'rule' is my photography - those are shipped in new envelopes directly from my printer.

****************************************************************
HOW DO I DETERMINE THE COST OF SHIPPING?
****************************************************************
1) Unfortunately, Etsy does not have an option to allow a calculated price for shipping, so what may cost one US customer only $5 in shipping will cost another across the USA $12, or possibly $25 if in another country. I weigh each item on my personal digital scale and base the shipping price on the USPS website's estimate based on package / envelope size and weight. I have to guess slightly because the boxes / packaging material weigh different amounts, so I don't know the exact weight until the item is packaged up and ready for me to print a label.
2) Depending on the item, if it's very fragile and valued over $50, I will add $1.85 to the price for insurance. Delivery Confirmation is always free.
3) I also calculate in the cost of doing business, such as buying ink & paper for my printer, tape, packaging supplies, gas to go to the post office (20-minute drive), my time (each package takes *at least* 15 minutes from start to finish from printing the invoice to printing postage and taping the labels onto the package - this time does not count driving to /from the post office)
4) I have a Stamps.com account, which I use to be able to print labels at home & track packages rather than waste time in line at the post office. I also get a small discount off shipping by using their service, which is passed on to you in the shipping price. This service costs me $10 per month.
4) Etsy and Google Checkout all charge fees. The fees basically average to about 9% of the item total + 30 cents per transaction.

****************************************************************
DOMESTIC SHIPPING (USA):
****************************************************************
Item prices are listed on the description page. If the actual shipping price is a lot higher than you paid, I'll contact you to see if you want to pay the difference or receive a full refund for the item - it's up to you.

All items are shipped upon cleared payment. I ship out 2-3 times per week via the United States Postal Service (USPS), excluding holidays and Sundays.

I ship via USPS First Class, Parcel Post or USPS Priority Mail depending on your order and shipping needs. I will try to send the least expensive way if possible. I include USPS insurance on all domestic (USA) items over $40 and most items that are fragile (i.e. glass, pottery, ceramics). I add this into the shipping price listed. If the above doesn't apply and you want to purchase insurance for $1.85 extra, please let me know and I'll add that to your order. You can look up the prices via the USPS website at http://postcalc.usps.gov/. My zip code is 15239. I include delivery confirmation on all items.

See "REFUNDS & EXCHANGES" policy below if item gets "lost" in the mail and neither of us purchased insurance...I had a bad experience with a customer so I am attempting to make this even more clear.

****************************************************************
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
****************************************************************
I may not have a shipping cost listed on the item description for non-United States orders because it varies greatly per country. I don't think it's fair to you for me to put a flat-rate for all international orders unless the price is very similar, as it is with small / light items. So, for many items, especially heavy things, please email / convo me with your country name so I can look up the cost. I will ship through the United States Postal Service (USPS). First Class is the most economical method of shipping, but does NOT have tracking or insurance, so once I ship your package I will have no further information about its whereabouts, thus if it's lost or stolen, I will NOT refund 100% of money for the item and shipping. Instead if you purchase the cheapest shipping internationally and are taking a gamble by not purchasing insurance, I will also gamble with you and trust that you didn't receive the item in question and refund 1/2 of your money for the actual item, but none of the shipping costs (provided that I kept my receipt and can scan you a copy that proves that I've sent the item to you as promised). If I lost my receipt, I'll refund 100% of the shipping fee too - but I don't lose many things

If you'd like to upgrade to Priority Mail, which does have tracking and insurance can be purchased for an additional small fee, please let me know and I will send you an email stating the shipping cost. Prices can also be found on the USPS website at http://www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-international-prices.htm.

Note: Buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred.

****************************************************************
EXPEDITED SHIPPING:
****************************************************************
If an item is needed overnight or next day, please contact me immediately upon purchase. I will gladly expedite shipping upon receiving the extra cost to do so.

****************************************************************
ARE YOU SENDING A GIFT?
****************************************************************
If you are purchasing an item as a gift please let me know. I will not include an invoice with the price, and I would be happy to wrap up your gift for free. Just tell me the occasion so I can use appropriate gift wrap. However - please don't ask me to buy a card. One customer did that to me and I did, but I seriously don't have time to go shopping for a card for your family member or friend (and try to pick something appropriate not knowing either of you at all) and absorb the cost for the card and gas. The closest store to my house is a 30-minute drive. I will put a note inside the package if you'd like though...but you have to tell me what to say :-)
Refunds and Exchanges
UPDATED JULY 28, 2012

****************************************************************
RETURNS:
****************************************************************
All items are returnable within 5 (five) business days (Monday - Friday). This means that you will need to ship the item back to me within 5 days, not that I would have to receive it in 5 days, so please do NOT pay for expedited shipping.

I do not refund shipping and may deduct 20% of the sales price for a restocking fee.

Live plants and photography are not refundable/returnable, but if they are damaged I'll send you new ones, so let me know within 5 days upon receipt. Please email me a photo as proof of damage.

****************************************************************
Refunds are issued within 2 business days upon receipt of an accepted return in the same way as it was received. Google Checkout & Etsy have its own policies once I tell them I want to refund and it takes several days to see the money returned to your account (typically 2-3 business days).

****************************************************************
NO INSURANCE & "LOST" IN THE MAIL - USA
****************************************************************
I had a bad experience with a customer who bought sewing patterns. I mailed them to her as usual through the USPS w/delivery confirmation, and she said she never received them personally although they were delivered according to USPS. They were under $40 total. The items weren't expensive or fragile so I did not buy insurance for the package and neither did the customer. I want my customers to know that all customers have the option to add insurance - it's $1.85 extra for items valued up to $50. As stated in my policy, all one has to do is tell me they want insurance, and I'll add it on to the price.

I'm making sure you're are aware that if you do not opt to buy insurance and it is "lost" in the mail, I will NOT refund the cost of the item or the shipping fee that you paid if the delivery confirmation shows that the package was delivered to your address that is listed in Etsy and/or the address where you request that I send the package.

You can purchase insurance easily and cheaply - just tell me in the message to seller or via email, and I'll add on the cost. I do not run a huge operation. I cannot be held responsible for items lost in the mail that are not insured - I simply don't have the money to do so. I do feel bad if something happens, don't get me wrong, but I also cannot trust when someone says that the item magically becomes lost and wants a full refund when I have delivery confirmation from a third party that is contrary to what the person who benefits says. I lose my item(s) and money, and the other person very well could have the items in hand - who knows. My only other option is to increase all shipping costs for every item, which I don't think is fair and makes me lose business. I might do that at a later time, but for now I will not because I've only had one problem out of over 180 shipments between this store and on Amazon, Ebay, etc. in the past 7+ years.

INSURED ITEMS THAT ARRIVE DAMAGED - USA
****************************************************************
Unfortunately, this does sometimes happen. I package very well, sometimes in double boxes if necessary, but when an item is thrown (not by me, by the post office!) even the best packaging cannot protect. If your item(s) arrive damaged please contact me immediately upon receipt. If the item was insured, I will have to file a claim with USPS and pursue that avenue to obtain the refund, and after I get the refund I will refund you immediately. Please retain all of the original packaging and all pieces of the damaged item - if you have a camera, it would help greatly if you could send me a digital or printed photo of the item(s) so I can submit it with the file as proof of damage. It would make the claim go through faster as well since it would be an easy to solve case I assume!

****************************************************************
NON-INSURED ITEMS THAT ARRIVE DAMAGED - INTERNATIONAL
****************************************************************
If the item was damaged in transit through an International Order and insurance was not purchased, I will refund your shipping costs, but not the price of the item. I'm very sorry - you have the option to purchase insurance at a higher cost. See shipping policies, above. I cannot be held responsible for stolen or lost packages without insurance for international items.

****************************************************************
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS FEES:
****************************************************************
I will not accept a return or refund because of an item facing customs fees, taxes, tariffs, duties, etc. Please be aware of the fees that you may be charged when receiving an international package from the United States.

Special Note about Vintage Sizes:
****************************************************************
The size labeled on vintage clothing is different than modern sizes. I list all of my items by the vintage label size (if available) and I also list the measurements. The best way to determine if something will fit you is to use the measurements and compare them to the size of your own clothing. To do this you should lay your item flat and measure as appropriate. Compare to my measurements. If the item doesn't fit, you can always return it - no questions asked. Luckily clothing is very cheap to ship too, and I don't charge any fee for clothing returns.

BUST - measure from side seam to side seam directly under the armpit / sleeve, then double the number.

SHOULDER - measure across the shoulders, seam to seam.

SLEEVE - measure from the top shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

LENGTH (TOPS) - measure from the top of the shoulder, at the collar, to the hemline.

WAIST - measure from side to side at the top of the waistline. **If the fabric is stretchy or has a drawstring, I'll provide a waist measurement range. The measurement is obtained by using the method above then adding a second measurement while stretching the waistline. It will look like this: 37", Stretched 39".**

LENGTH (PANTS/SKIRT) - measure from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the hemline.

RISE - measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband (done in pants/shorts only).

HIP - measure from side to side directly at the hip line, then double the number.

INSEAM - measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the cuff (done in pants/shorts only).
