About Me: Welcome to my Etsy gallery! My name is Daniel Tacker I've been making and creating art for as long as I can remember. I've always enjoyed being creative and working with my hands. I studied photography, film, graphic design, and painting at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where I received my BFA. I currently live in the Memphis-area of Tennessee. I've sold numerous pieces here locally and across the US. I am hoping to expand the access of my pieces via Etsy.

Process: All of my work is handmade by myself and ready to hang. My work relies heavily on color and composition as a foundation. Each layer on top of that is comprised from my experiences as an individual: design, painting, photography, urban, and rural surfaces. I find extreme fascination in the urban landscape, the surfaces, textures, and environment of that landscape. This encourages me to utilize all products of my surroundings to create my work. Not just paint and brush, but also pen, marker, spray paint, latex, rollers, cardboard, stencils, glue, and every tool available in the digital world. I often utilize my skills from working in the digital graphics industry in the creation of my work. I build each layer carefully, sometimes finishing, hanging on the wall, taking down, destroying and repainting countless times. Sometimes the result is something simple and pleasing, other times it becomes more complex and chaotic. In the end it is an idea that has been reinterpreted into another surface; mutating a nonliving surface into something that breathes and connects with the viewer on some level.

Customized: I can and have made customized work before. Just contact me and I will do my best to create what you are looking for.

Questions: Feel free to contact me and ask anything.

Pricing: I price all of my work based on the size. That being said, if you see something you really want but aren't sold on the price don't hesitate to contact me directly. I'd rather work with you than turn you away from a piece that you really want.

I received this wonderful piece today. Although the screen image of this painting makes it appear much more blue than it really is, I'm still very much in love with it. It will go really well with my other pieces. I think your art is so fun! I just love your work. Thank you.

love this. it's a wonderful piece with many cool layers and details. Daniel worked with us to create a custom companion piece which works nicely with this one. it was a great process from inquiry through delivery, with Daniel keeping up posted on the work in progress. Highly recommend his artwork and/or working with him for something custom.

About

VISION . CREATE . DESTROY . REPEAT .

ORIGINAL / MODERN / HANDMADE / ABSTRACT / MIXED MEDIA ART / PAINTING

My name is Daniel Tacker and thanks for visiting my shop. I am a 30-something year old that grew up in the mid-south area of Memphis, TN. I have always worked and lived in the South and have had a passion for creating things with my hands for as far back as I can remember. I started drawing comic book characters at about 8-9 years old. I then graduated to my first Polaroid camera where I took a huge interest in photography.

I studied graphic design, water color, painting, film, video, and photography at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I received my BFA in 2002. Shortly after embarking into the digital design and printing world I began to explore my passion for painting. At first it was something that was therapeutic for me, however as my pieces began to sell and I received more and more requests for art works, I decided to become more public with my art. Since that time my style has evolved from just acrylic painting to a collage of different mixed media techniques. I've displayed works at several venues in the Memphis area, had a photograph published, sold commissioned works to 2 hotels, and sold numerous pieces to people across the US.

I sincerely hope that you will take one of my creations home with you. If you see something you really want but feel the price is a bit out of your range, feel free to contact me directly and make an offer. All reasonable offers will be considered!

Take a look around and/or drop me a line. I appreciate your time.

-Daniel Tacker

"Daniel Tacker encompasses the connections between the rural and urban, organic and high-tech, consumer and mass-market driven environments. Through various techniques utilizing graphic design, ink, pen, marker, aerosol and acrylic paint, his art explores the dichotomy of all of these worlds and how they correlate.

Drawing upon his background in graphic design, Tacker employs that field’s traditional illustrative techniques, merging comfortable aesthetics with more stigmatized methods of creating art like graffiti. He uses a cross of abstract forms and organic forms, to create a hybridized vernacular, identifying tensions of media and market driven culture."
