About Me and My Work

I am a designer and printmaker working in and living just outside of Lincoln, Nebraska. I work full-time as a designer, marketer, and communicator. However, in my free time, I create hand pressed linocut relief prints in my in-home studio.

I fell in love with printmaking while completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in graphic design at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. In a beginning printmaking studio course, I had the opportunity to explore a variety of techniques, including woodcut, intaglio, etching, and aquatint. I immediately enjoyed the technical aspects, as well as the opportunity to combine my love of drawing, painting, and design into one medium. A deeper exploration of screenprinting, through two additional studio courses, left a noticeable impact on my creative style both as a designer and as an artist. And after college, while researching printmaking techniques that do not require mechanical presses, I discovered hand-pressed linoprinting.

I enjoy exploring the creative overlap and boundaries between design and art. My artwork tends to take on a very graphic nature with bold lines and solid shapes.

My subjects of choice are almost always nature-related. I enjoy depicting and visually studying wildlife found in and around my home. However, I also enjoy exploring domestic flora and fauna, as well. While my subjects do vary, I typically create my prints in what I call "miniseries." My miniseries might be as few as two prints or as many as 15. Together, the prints are intended to tell a story and elicit deeper consideration for the subjects.

I am a printmaker based out of Lincoln, Nebraska. I create linocut relief prints focused on subjects found in nature, especially in the midwest. I am also a graphic/web designer, and I enjoy exploring the intersection of these two worlds.
