Darkroom and Dearly
My name is Brittany. I am the owner and designer of the greeting card shop Darkroom and Dearly.
I have been drawing since I was very small. My first career aspiration in kindergarten was to become an illustrator of children's books. Or become a mermaid. Unfortunately the mermaid thing never panned out, but I have been fortunate enough to put my love of drawing to good use.
In 2012, I took my dream of opening an Etsy shop and turned it into a reality! I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning - my first cards were hand drawn and I was ecstatic every time someone bought one. I experienced my first "sales boom" during Father's Day season, and I quickly realized I could no longer hand draw each card. I worked very hard to change the way I designed, listed and shipped items. I have grown and learned so much since then, and as my shop continues to grow and gain success, I am constantly improving the way I do things. I have been SO grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way!
These days, I offer sweet, silly and slightly geeky designs which appeal to all those sci-fi aficionados out there (like me!) I love to draw and create designs that make people smile. In a world of technology and iPhones, I love the simple novelty of writing someone a handmade card. The "Dearly" portion of my brand name describes my love of writing and corresponding, and I hope this is an art form that never fades from our generation.
Every day is an adventure and I am loving every minute! Thank you for joining me along the journey! If you are interested in keeping up with my adventures, both in my craft room and out in the world, please visit my blog: www.darkroomanddearly.com
I'm a hopeless wanderer, always looking for my next adventure! When I'm not out taking photos of the countryside, I love putting my artsy brain to work coming up with new designs to make you smile.
Accepted payment methods
- Accepts Etsy gift cards
Please note that if you choose to pay by e-check (funds directly from your bank) that it usually takes about 5-7 days to clear through Paypal. I will ship your order as soon as the funds are deposited.
DOMESTIC ORDERS: To keep postage rates down, I don't include tracking with orders of 1-3 cards. Tracking information is automatically added for any order over four cards. If you would like tracking added to a smaller order, please change your shipping options when you checkout and the postage price will adjust for you.
If you would like faster shipping, you may choose the "priority shipping" option at checkout to get your order sent 2-3 day USPS priority mail. The price will be adjusted for you accordingly.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: postage rates for international orders went up quite significantly as of Jan 17, 2016, and I apologize for the high cost. Since I send orders as "non-bendable packages" to ensure safe delivery, they are priced as such and this cost is set by the postal service.
Fortunately, there doesn't seem to be a weight restriction now, so buying more than one card will save you money and the shipping price won't go up.
If you truly need only one card and don't want to pay the $13, please convo me for alternate options.
International deliveries usually arrive in 1-4 weeks (average arrival time is about 7-10 business days). Please note that the buyer is responsible for any customs tariffs and fees on the package. I am obligated by law to mark "merchandise" on the customs forms (sorry!) I unfortunately can't expedite orders internationally and tracking won't be available once the order departs the US (though it is still en route to you!)
PACKAGING: Cards are shipped in a cellophane sleeve to prevent water damage. I try to be eco-conscious with all my materials: the card paper, envelope, cellophane sleeve and mailer are all recycled materials and 100% biodegradable. Please recycle! Thanks! :)
PLEASE verify that your shipping address is correct! If an order is sent back to me with an address error, another card can be sent out at the customer's expense.
I unfortunately don't have control over shipments once orders have left my hands, but if you are experiencing issues let me know and I'll do my best to make it right, within my ability.
Refunds and Exchanges
If an item is received damaged, please contact me right away. All efforts will be made to send a replacement and/or refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you have any other questions, please reach out to me via Etsy convo rather than my email address. You will get a much faster response and it is much easier for me to keep track of your order status through Etsy. Thank you!

Darkroom and Dearly is a one-woman show, and due to a busy schedule I am usually unable to accommodate custom designs. (Sorry about that!) I do offer a few select custom prints for purchase here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DarkroomandDearly?ref=hdr_shop_menu§ion_id=16368806
All cards are size A2, 4.25"x5.5." Prints are either 5"x7" or 8"x10", depending on the listing.
Sorry, at this time Darkroom and Dearly does not offer digital downloads. The only items available for purchase are those shown in the shop. Thanks for your interest, though!
