KIND Apparel

This adventure began in Massachusetts in 2012 after I received my BFA in Architecture & Design but is built upon a lifetime of artistic endeavors and uncommonly clever clothing alterations. Now located in Missoula, I currently work solely with re-purposed fabrics, upcycling them into one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces and am constantly inspired by the vast and majestic landscape of the mountains I call home. My vision is the material. Working with upcycled fabrics allows me to work impulsively, constantly changing and refining my creative process. I don't use patterns so every item is unique and quirky, truly showing the human hand at work.

All of my materials are sourced from local charity thrift stores whose missions support autism research, the fight against domestic violence, food banks, and provide food and jobs for disadvantaged members of the community.

The creation process is very much like the color handling of painting and the spontaneity of sculpture and I enjoy working with fabrics because they are incredibly forgiving and non-permanent.

Thanks for visiting!

Shop policies

Hello! I am so glad you are visiting my shop! I try to check my shop a few times a day so if you ever have a question, just message me and I hope to provide you with a quick and helpful response. I truly value all of my customers, without you I would not have a shop. Given that, there are a few policies I must abide by given the fact that I am running business and therefore responsible for costs and customer satisfaction.
I do custom orders so if you are interested in something, let me know. I make my items out of upcycled materials. Given this, if you order a custom piece, keep in mind that because I find my materials through thrifting I may not be able to find very specific designs and/or colors but I will work with you to find something similar.

Thanks for having a look around!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
*Payment is through Paypal and expected the day of purchase. After 24 hrs has elapsed without payment, the item will return to its listing in my ship.

*If you wish to have an item placed on reserve for more than 2 days, a 50% payment of the item is required at the time of reservation which will count toward the final purchase price.
*I normally ship first class mail through USPS unless otherwise specified. Orders will be shipped once payment is received which is normally the day of payment unless it is not a normal business day. I will send you a message notifying you of when your order has been shipped. tracking information will be provided for shipping within the US only.
*For orders outside of the US, I do not provide tracking due to the cost (it runs roughly around $35) so I'm sorry to say that I cannot be held liable for international orders that do not arrive :( Tracking and insurance are available upon request and paid for by the buyer.
* For orders returned due to incorrect address/paypal address, the buyer will have to pay again for re-shipping.
* I ship to the address you list. If your paypal/direct checkout address is not correct, I am unfortunately not responsible for items delivered to the wrong address if it is the address you've listed.
Refunds and Exchanges
I spend tons of time photographing and describing my work so that you can get a precise idea of what you are buying and avoid sizing mishaps. If you have any questions about sizing, please contact me! Unfortunately, I cannot offer refunds, sorry.

*In certain instances exchanges may be available although not on custom work and buyer must pay return shipping and is responsible for loss or damage of item on its way back to me.
*If you wish to exchange a purchase, items must be sent back to me within 3 days of receiving the item. Items must be in original condition (no alterations, stains, odors, etc) and I am not responsible for any loss/damage that occurs while the item is on its way back to me.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom Orders:

*I am happy to do custom orders! For custom orders, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit before I begin designing your custom piece. Once the listing is complete, I will post it in my shop for the remaining half of the payment. Sales and coupon codes can not be applied to custom work.

*Each custom piece is a unique piece of art. I will work with you to achieve the desired style, colors and design but keep in mind that in requesting a custom piece you are asking for a piece of my creativity and I will take artistic liberties where I feel they are applicable as I take pride in every piece I create. I do have a specific personal style that I work in as you can see from gazing through my shop, so I like to inject a little bit of this into all designs as well.

*Because most of my pieces are made of upcycled materials, I do spend quite a bit of time thrifting and shopping for materials in addition to the construction and designing so keep this in mind when awaiting a quote. My custom quotes take into account material and machine costs, and a modest hourly rate I give myself for time spent finding suitable materials, designing and crafting your piece. I will do my best to find specific colors/patterns you request yet availability depends on what is for sale in my local thrift stores (I don't live in a big city) so keep that in mind. Quality and customer satisfaction are very important to me.

*If you have purchased an item but are dissatisfied with the way it fits, I will perform basic alterations on SOME items. Similarly, if you like an item in my shop but wish for its size to be altered, I can do that on some items as well. I charge a small alterations fee which is $10 for most basic alterations. Altered items cannot be returned.
