About

Sea-inspired lampwork glass sculptures and jewelry using my special "painting with glass" technique.

I'm the owner of TraSea's Glassworks and an artist with more than thirty years of experience in working with glass. The type of glasswork I create is called flamework or lampwork because the glass is heated and sculpted in a torch flame. Each piece is hand formed from a solid rod of glass which is heated in the flame until molten and shaped into the desired form. For most of my work, I make my own colored rods from glass powders and frits - lending to a broad palette and exquisite use of color.

"When I discovered the use of powders and frits I began 'painting' with glass."

I have made many forms over the years, with a particular love of the ocean, which shows in my marine life pieces as well as my seascape pendants and earrings, where I literally "paint" with glass. I studied Fine Art at the University of Arkansas, specifically painting, and went on to learn the art of flameworking in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I resided in Germany for four years where I further refined my style.

I live and work just a short walk from the beach in St. Augustine, Florida. Visitors are welcome to my studio by appointment. My work is available in many fine galleries throughout the country as well as on Etsy!
