Doing something with what I have

The twin arts of writing and painting/drawing run deep in my family. Art was a hobby for both Mom and Dad, she painting ceramic figurines and he drawing different images as the mood struck him. Dad’s father was a commercial artist, designing advertisements. Several of Mom’s cousins also have this talent. Living in the South, storytelling was an integral part of our lives. It not only passes the time, it keeps old memories alive and fires the imagination with an urge to retell and expand on that reserve of stories. The phrase “I thought of being a writer” is common in our conversations.

Unfortunately, also common are mentions of ones who "never did anything” with those talents. The thought never became a goal; the work was allowed to sit instead of being shared. The result is lovely pictures being hidden away or discarded and the loss of many stories. It was the anxiety of falling into this category that crept up on me when I looked at the work I had grown during college. This shop is an effort to do something with what I have, a means of turning my creative yield it into something productive.

Happy shopping, and thank you for the interest. - David Wesley Woolverton

My primary interests include trains, books, and daydreaming. I grew up in the Fowl River area of Alabama surrounded by interesting things to draw and family members telling stories, which is where my love of my crafts began.
