I've been an artist and a teacher of art for over 30 years. now that I am retired from teaching I've decided to dedicate my passion: ceramics and sculpture. There's something great about doing what you love. Especially when I can do it with Zana.

  • Zana Warren

    Jewelry/Glaze Queen

Zana doesn't recall anything before her spaceship landed, but she did arrive from the cosmos with an acute understanding of glaze application and jewelry design. Her hobbies are playing with Butters (Her African Grey) and catching garden gnomes.

I have been an artist and a teacher of art for over 30 years. I love teaching, but my passion is ceramics and sculpture. My work has been shown in galleries throughout the Southwest including Escondido Municipal Arts Gallery in Escondido, CA; El Taller and Joe Wade Fine Arts in New Mexico; Sculptured Hands, Brother’s Fine Art, and El Prado Gallery in Arizona; and Moonstruck Gallery in Nevada. As an artist, much of what I do centers around a search for the archetypal. For example, water in my painting and sculpture is symbolic of the unconscious mind. Fish and other denizens of the deep represent dreams and unconscious wishes: feeling and motivations that we are not consciously aware. In my sculptures cranes, egrets, and other fish birds represent the shaman: one who is capable of bringing forth deep meaning relevant to the spirit or soul.
Most artists are seekers. They draw ideas from the ineffable, from deep in the subconscious, and sometimes from the collective symbolism that transcends the individual. As an artist my goal is to try to celebrate the commonality of our existence as seen through the archetypes we all share as humans.
