About Davis Leatherworks:
Bespoke leather goods, hand-crafted in the hills of West Virginia from quality materials. We strive to source all of our materials and leather from small, family-owned businesses here in the United States, thereby promoting local economy. Thereby, placing your order with Davis Leatherworks not only helps keep us in business, but also helps support other small businesses along the supply chain.
We source leather from Horween of Chicago, IL, Thoroughbred Leather of Louisville, KY, Hermann Oak of St Louis, MO, and Wickett & Craig of Curwensville, PA. All of out products are hand-sewn using waxed polyester braided cording form the Maine Waxed Thread Company in Lewiston, ME and source solid brass and nickel hardware from Buckle Guy in Topsfield, MA.
As of February, 2016, Chris Davis is also a juried Tamarack Artisan. Tamarack is a nationally known artisan showcase located in Beckley, WV. More information can be found here: http://www.tamarackwv.com/

Hello, my name is Chris Davis, the owner and craftsman behind Davis Leatherworks! Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my Etsy store and for wanting to learn a little more about me!
Sarah Davis is my wife and help-meet, and it's not an odd things to find her hanging around my shop helping out with whatever needs to be done, be it sewing or punching holes!
Ron Hoy is Chris Davis' father-in-law, and the owner of Hoy's Forge. Specializing in custom, hand-forged and ground knives, each piece from Hoy's Forge is a work of art.

Frequently asked questions
All shipping is currently handled via the United States Postal Service, except in cases where a custom order is more easily mailed via UPS or Fed-Ex. I try to ensure that the customer pays the least amount of shipping possible while still covering the cost of shipping materials and postage. Most orders are able to be shipped via First Class Mail (Starting at $5.50)/International First Class Mail (Starting at $9.00).
International Customers: Davis Leatherworks is not responsible for packages not received or packages that are returned to us. Due to the number of non-receipt orders, we no longer are able to offer refunds or re-send orders.
Custom and personalized orders
Most definitely! I love to work on custom projects in part because they break up the monotony, but also because they sometimes provide me with new items to put in the the shop. Shoot me an e-mail via the contact form or at email@example.com and we'll get the ball rolling!
When will you be getting more of __________ leather in stock?
Other than several "stock" leathers (Black/Brown Chromexcel, Black/Brown/Burgandy Chromexcel Horsestrip, Vegetable Tanned Leather), all of the leather we order is purchased from a distributor who receives "odd lots" from the manufacturer. As such, they never have any quantifiable stock of any particular leather on hand at one time. Due to the size of our business, we generally purchase leather one or two sides (half of a hide) at a time and by the time we are ready to order more the distributor has already sold out.
So generally the answer to this question is no, although it never hurts to check...
When will my order be completed/shipped?
My normal lead time is 2-3 weeks, although during peak or busy seasons this may extend to up to a month. Often, orders are shipped out before the 2-3 week minimum, but if your order has to be postponed I'll do my best to get in touch with you about how long it will take.
