****Ongoing C-19 / service update effective January 2021****
We are currently in national lockdown within the UK. This means that we are instructed by the UK Government to only to leave home for certain 'essential' matters
This means that I will continue to visit the Post Office on Tuesdays, depending on the number of orders, which in turn means that your order should be dispatched within a week of you placing it
Overseas delivery last year were very erratic and will vary hugely in your country, from state to state in the USA and Australia - sometimes taking the standard 5-10 working days, most commonly taking 2- weeks and occasionally taking 5 - 6 weeks depending on your local C-19 restrictions.
Stay well, stay safe and remember to keep your distance :-)
Hugs and jelly-babies.
I try and reply to all messages within an hour (unless you contact me overnight) but one of the downsides of living in glorious Devon is that mobile coverage is really rather patchy, so often I won't receive your message until I get back to the house.
I have a small selection of my geeky and gadget jewellery here, on Etsy, but there's more of it (including lots of more normal, and one off pieces) on my personal website and store www.DawnGillDesigns.com
Each listing will tell you if I can post your item straightaway, or if I will need to make it for you - and Australians? Sorry but jewellery is an AusPost prohibited item. I'd prefer not to post anything to you directly; although I would be delighted to post it to a friend or family member outside Australia, if you really want something from me, direct - please message me or include a note within your order so I know you are aware of the issue

5 out of 5 starsGot these for my mother for her birthday. She's a lifelong Trekkie but doesn't like anything too garish, so this was the perfect fan gift for her! They are truly small and subtle, and beautifully made.

5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely beautiful handmade earings. Bought for my mother as she is a big trekkie so was great to see her reaction! Design is subtle enough that she can just wear them as a pretty pair of earings too. Went for size 'tiny' and they are super cute, see image for reference. Great service and speedy delivery also. Many thanks!

5 out of 5 starsThe ring is beautiful! I had to tension the yarn differently than I normally do to use it but once I figured that out it worked well. I am so grateful to no longer have yarn burn on the top of my finger!

5 out of 5 starsI have a triple loop ring (that i absolutely love) but needed something easier to switch colors doing a Tunisian Graphgan. ordered the snowflake design single. Dawn is so accommodating when I asked for the loop to be left open a bit for easy switching. I absolutely love💜💜💜 this new one just as much

UK Dealers Notice
Finally able to make things and be paid for it!! How cool is that!
Hi. I used to work in a regular office job. It was a job I really loved, but when it came to an end I felt I had an opportunity to start over; and how often do we get that in our lives? Rude not to!
So ...I'm taking my time to build my little jewellery business in a way that is manageable and sustainable.
I use Facebook to showcase any custom orders that are initiated personally and list items on Etsy or my website as I make them.
Currently I choose to use certified recycled 925 sterling silver and fine silver, with gold only on request in conjunction with precious and semi-precious gemstones, sourced from UK suppliers who in turn have sourced them ethically. I'll also work with something you already own if you would like me to fix, upcycle, repurpose or incorporate it
I've had my makers mark registered with the London Assay Office since 2014, and in July 2018 I sent and received my first batch of jewellery off to them for formal marking. I'm very proud to regularly have my work hallmarked (it's the law in the UK that anything in silver, weighing over 7.78g needs to be hallmarked by one of the official assay offices)
I have always loved making things, and even better is making something someone actually wants to own. Take a look at my listings and please do use the custom order button or message me, either through Etsy, my website, on DawnGillDesigns [!at] gmail.com or via Facebook if you have any questions about something you think you might like made for you.
I'm also now 'doing Twitter', Instagram (@DawnGillDesigns) Pinterest and a small intermittent blog on Wordpress - not terribly well, but a little; if you wish to follow me.

Assay Office, See Bio
UK law is that precious metals, over 7.78grams (silver) / 1gram (gold) must be formally assayed (ie tested, verified & hallmarked) https://www.assayofficelondon.co.uk/media/2631/e3087_anchorcert-london-dealer-notice-updates-sep-19-single-sided.pdf

London Assay Office
London, England
https://www.assayofficelondon.co.uk It's the law that any silver item over 7.78g, sold as new and silver be assayed(ie checked) and then hallmarked. I choose to have mine assayed at the London Assay office, which will include the mark for the year of manufacture, and my own makers mark.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders
Can I make (enter item here!) to coordinate with an item you own already, even if from another seller? Quite possibly. Please message me with as much information about your item, including photos and sizing and I'll see what I can do.
There are examples of repairs and custom match items on my facebook page if you are interested.
Gift wrapping and packaging
Is gift wrapping included? Not exactly. I will carefully wrap up your purchase in tissue paper, organza gift bag and bubble wrap, and post it in a box designed to fit through your letter box.
This keeps your postage to the minimum possible, and keeps my pieces affordable.
Sizing details
If you find the sizing a challenge, let me know if you want me to take another photo with a prop to help you decide if it's appropriate. I work on my own, so it's a challenge to photograph my items on myself!
Care instructions
Sterling silver will eventually tarnish / oxidise / patinate. It's a natural process that can be slowed down by regular wear and by keeping unworn items away from the atmosphere. If you leave your jewellery out on display, this oxidisation will be faster.
You can polish up your items, with a soft cloth, or some silver polish, or a buffing cloth such as Town Talk, which is readily available from any high street jewellers in the UK
Fine silver is 99.9% silver, and because of this the tarnish rate is much, much slower. Again, a buff should do the job for polishing it back up.
If I have patinated your silver already, be gentle when buffing!
Apply body lotion and perfume a few minutes before putting on your jewellery to help slow down tarnish
Care instructions
The gemstones I use have been sold to me by reputable dealers as untreated (unless stated specifically in the listing). They are a natural, organic creation from the earth and each one will be slightly different. You can see examples of this on my Facebook page.
I select the stones that I think go together best for each project, hence my comments that each item is individual.
Custom and personalised orders
I love a custom order request.
I like to make sure that I have understood what you want, so often will send you some photos of options and also progress photos. The more work involved in the item you want, the more often I'll send you a photo. I can do this via Etsy, but if you don't have the Etsy app on your phone, you may prefer me to send the photos via Facebook Messenger or email. Like and message me via my Facebook page and let me know if you would prefer me to do this.
I've said that custom orders aren't refundable / exchangeable. If your item doesn't meet with expectations, please contact me within 14 days of receipt so we can discuss how I can adjust it - or indeed a refund; not every custom order involves super unique details :-)
Wholesale availability
Please contact me to see if this is feasible
Postage to Australia - Jewellery is prohibited from import
Jewellery is on Australia Post's prohibited list. This means I CAN NOT sent it directly to you in Australia without describing it incorrectly on the customs form and risking your order being confiscated.
If you are ordering a gift for someone elsewhere, I will be delighted to post directly to them, or, if you are happy to take the chance of your item being held at customs we'll give it a go. Please send me a message either before placing or within your order
I apologise for the disappointment that this has caused you.
The information regarding this is on the UK Royal Mail website here -
https://www.royalmail.com/australia
Can I return my piece if I don't like it, or it doesn't fit?
I'm happy to have you return your item, if you do so promptly, with it's original packaging, and it's unworn in the original condition. However unless it was faulty, I can't absorb the postage - if you are returning an item that had postage included within it, for a reason other than it being faulty, there may be a restocking fee of £5 representative of an element of the postage and packing costs. If you are returning any of my other items, I will refund you for the jewellery only, not the postage paid.
Why am I being charged for postage? Why isn’t postage ‘free’ - it is with lots of other people’s listings costing over $35US?
Because ‘free’ really means 'inclusive'
I’d need to increase each listing price to cover the cost
I try to be fully transparent about all my processes; I only charge the cost of the actual postage which varies depending on the value of the item being sent (we need it insured in case it doesn’t arrive intact) & the destination. It would be impossible for me to include that within the price of each piece of jewellery fairly. Additionally many people buy more than one item and they’d then effectively be paying twice for the postage. On the rare occasion where the actual postage differs from that paid in your order, I either absorb any extra, or refund you any excess paid
